Easy Installastion:

  • Fix the piston ring on the pin and file the ring with the grinding wheel by shaking the handle to ensure the correct clearance of the piston ring.

  • The piston ring is to be touching both pins to insure it is square to the wheel, helping you get a ​good seal from filing your piston rings.Spinning clockwise would give a more stable/safe grind.

  • Operation points:
  • 1. When working, the piston ring should be in contact with both pins, this will keep the cutting edge square.

  • 2. Be careful to file from the outside in so that the edge does not scratch the hole, the most important thing is to file slowly and keep your measurements, as a quick file may overcut your ring and make it useless.

  • 3. If the end clearance is set too tight, the rings will eventually butt against each other due to thermal expansion, resulting in serious engine failure.

  • 4. If the ring gap is set too large, it will cause excessive air leakage, increased fuel consumption and loss of engine power.

  • 5. If necessary, I recommend cleaning and deburring the ring after adjustment. Helps to retain any metal chips or holes that may damage when testing fittings.

  • File the rings in the correct way without damaging your cylinder or taking too much material from the rings.

The pin is not removable to change grinding wheel when needed. This is a one and done tool. I’d but the real Proform piston ring grinder to avoid this. Also image is not accurate for tool received.
