My Porsche had a leather over knob shifter. This does not place the leather over the knob. But this worked perfectly and is still installed today. However I indent to replace it with one that looks more like the factory leather.

This is a good product, but the picture is decieving. You only receive the actual synthetic leather portion, and NOT the retainer piece. So, you need to save your original retained piece to re-fit back to your Porsche center console. I threw my old one out before receiving this new one (it was so old and crusty that it seemed like just one piece, not two seperate), and sourcing another retainer piece cost me anoter $45...

Good quality item. Some Boxster shift knobs are sewn to the shift boot. If this is the case simply cut away the old shift boot, fold the neck of the new shift boot into itself and from the inside secure it to the shift knob with a tie strap. It will be invisible when the knob is installed and hold the boot securely in place.

I upgraded my shift knob from the stock OEM 5 speed shifter on an early Boxster and the leather boot had to be cut to use with the new shift knob. The leather was 20 years old and being in a convertible it was beginning to fade and getting scuffed from regular use over the years and it just not long enough to work well with the new shifter. So I took a chance on the Autoguru shift boot as for around $20 it wouldn't be painful if it didn't work. Much to my surprise it works great and the slots for the bottom clips on the retaining frame of the boot were exactly where they needed to be and the install was finished in a matter of minutes. All in all I'm very satisfied with the boot and could recommend it easily for a fast and inexpensive repair.
