not impressed with it. The way it cocks and having to push the end to complete the cock before you can shoot it.

Safety doesn't work. Have to cock to load. Will accidentally fire if not careful. Don't recommend for anyone. Totally junk. I have a metal marksman from when I was 10,I am 52 . Still works like new. Disappointed.

Marksman 1018 is a cool bb pistol for the money...its pretty descent powered and accurate. Great for indoor or outdoor target practice with a backstop set-up. Feels solid. It came with a neat little speed loader. The fixed sights were on the mark.

It is a OK BB gun for beginners only because if you was the try and shoot rats are cardboard or anything like that it does not go in the item it does not penetrate through, so it is a good gun for beginners only and I mean only beginners

So I admit I was a little generous with the star rating on this product. If I could have rated it 3.5 stars, I probably would have. Also, in this review, I’m going to be comparing it to its nearest rival, the Umarex airgun it directly competes with. Each gun has its advantages over the other.Predominently, this gun has a pickatinny rail and is generally significantly cheaper. Also, I like the safety better. We’ll get to that later, but I post long reviews, so that’s the skinny. What is it?It’s a pistol that shoots .177 caliber BB ammo (and theoretically light pellet ammo) by the rapid release of compression on a spring which drives the slide forward, compressing air behind the projectile and sending it downrange. It is not a target pistol. It’s not for home defense. It’s not a replica. It’s not for pest control. What is it?Surprisingly fun for such an inexpensive and frankly cheap-looking airgun. What do I dislike?I’m a “bad news first” kind of fellow, so here’s the bad news. The trigger doesn’t like to prime itself on mine when the slide comes back. It’s supposed to lock in place, holding tension on the spring. Pull the trigger, unlock the slide to move forward and release tension. Mine, sometimes it locks in place. Sometimes I have to pull the trigger out with my finger. The safety lever doesn’t automatically click in place when you push the slide into the forward (Safe) position. You have to push it up and let go of the slide. Once you do, it stays fine, releases fine, etc.Speaking of pushing the slide forward, on this gun, the slide has a long way to travel, against tension on another spring, to go into that safe position. This also has the unpleasant effect of giving the gun a quick back-then-forward jerk every time you fire it. It makes the gun feel like it’s trying to escape. There isn’t really anything positive or redeeming about this, nothing that can be done. It’s not a problem on older Marksman guns or the Umarex competitor. My final gripe against this gun is its appearance. It definitely looks the part of a cheap gun. Edges aren’t filed, the molds are chunky, the whole thing needs cleaning and polishing, and the outline just isn’t as smooth as the Umarex, which appears to share a similar design esthetic, though I don’t know which gun came first. But I gave it four (or three and a half) stars; what do I like!I like the fact it has a mounting rail. I know it’s silly, but it’s such an easy addition to make, and this gun has it. Do you need a laser or light on this gun? No, but if you want one, you can put one, and it just makes the gun feel more fun.I like the safety. This gun isn’t very likely to send you to hospital from a negligent discharge. On the other hand, it’s always better to be safe. The mock slide release pushes through when the slide is locked back and prevents it mechanically from sliding forward. On my Umarex gun and on old Marksman guns of this design principal, the safety is a mock magazine release. My Umarex’s safety doesn’t work, and the old Marksman doesn’t have the authority in the feel of the mechanism this has.I also prefer the mechanic for tilting the barrel up to load it. Yes, it puts an unrealistic notch on either side of the barrel, but it just works better than pressing on the mock guide rod to lift the barrel. It incidentally stays open more effectively than the Umarex mechanism.I frankly prefer the way older Marksman pistols’ barrels flip all the way up, but it is a little less afe. However, of the two newer guns of this design, I prefer the Marksman’s loading mechanism. Finally, the grip! The two pistols (Umarex and Marksman) are built along the same basic design choices. However, I despise many of the more obtrusive ergonomics. It’s strictly personal, but I prefer the physically understated protrusions of the Marksman’s front strap. It’s not super comfy, but it’s at least less uncomfortable. What’s the conclusion then? It’s the second cheapest new-in-box BB gun I’ve ever bought. The cheapest is the Daisy 340 pistol that works in a totally different way. That being said, it’s a cheap airgun that actually shoots BBs. It’s a bit of fun indoors or outdoors. It needs cleaning, oiling, and a little patience. If you have the $15, feel free to spend it on this. It even comes with a couple hundred BBs, but be careful. The container looks more spillproof than it is, to my chagrin.

Got to add to my collection. Glad I got my dx17 when I did for $15 years ago. They want $30 for it now. Got this for a gun comparison and because I grew up with the older models of thus marksman pistol.

Cheap and ok accuracy. Kinda clunky loud when firing. It’s temporary fun. Holds lots of bbs and I don’t have to worry about the spring wearing out over time since the bbs are stored in the barrel tip so I can walk around my property and pull it out whenever to shoot. Not very powerful just stings if shot by it. It is way better the dx17 though.
