Everyday I make Match at least once a. So I am very familiar with match sets and tools. I have never used a wood bowl before.Build quality: This is a very nice set. The bowel is pretty and feels great in you hand. It's a little on the small side but it still works. The bamboo whisk (chasen) is the nicest chasen I have ever gotten in a kit. It has a a lot of small tines that will help you whip up a nice foam. The scoop is also very nice. The bamboo straw seems silly to me. But everything else is nice quality.Interesting idea it means you don't have to preheat your bowl because the wood is not a good conductor of heat therefore it doesn't steal the heat from the water that you pour it in it kind of works like an insulator. In the wood, making an interesting sound. And the feel of the wood bowl in hand as you drink is also interesting and a differentI really like to think of a great idea for a gift, even for someone who is an experienced matcha drinker I'd be surprised if they have a wood match bowl (Chawan) and it's a nice fun change of pace. A big bonus are accessories they are actually really nice and even if they don't use the wood bowl every day these accessories will definitely usable even for a serious match drinker.

This set has everything you need to make matcha, except the matcha itself. Everything comes in a display box, which also has a gift bag inside. It has tape sealing the box, so I can't really explain how to get the bag out without actually opening the product.Everything that comes with it is usable. The measuring scoop is one found in many kits and is more like a ledge that match can rest on. It's not a spoon type and just relies on friction of the matcha to stay in place. I haven't figured out how to be consistent with it. The whisk is fine and is considered a wearable item since it is not expected to last forever, but should last a year or 2 if you are not using it daily. The whisk stand is ceremic and holds the whisk well to help it retain it's shape. The bowl is made of wood.Since it is presented nicely in the box, this can definitely be a gift, but also has everything if you want an easy way to start making matcha with a more traditional method yourself.

Gorgeous, well made high quality Matcha set. I love Matcha, the health benefits are worth drinking Matcha Tea. I love ceremonial Matcha and this tea set has everything you need to make ceremonial Matcha. It includes a wooden matcha bowl, bamboo whisk, ceramic whisk holder, scoop, spoon, sifter, 2 bamboo straws, cleaning brush, tea cloth, storage box, and gift bag.What I like about this set vs others is the wooden bowl, a lot are made with ceramic. I do like the ceramic ones as well, but what drew me to this set in particular was the wooden bowl. It might need to be washed differently vs other ceramic tea sets. I will be sure to use a gentle cleanser safe for wood kitchen items.The set stores nice in the box it comes in, or as a display in a hutch.I highly recommend this set for any Matcha Tea Lover!
