1999 Ram 3500 5.9 Cummins auto. I'm pretty much satisfied with this. After 200,000 the original Holset needed replacement. And this turbo will mostly bolt right back in place. However, the compressed air output to the cooler is different in shape and required beating the inner fender in to accommodate it. Also, due to a support that the Holset did not have, modification of the oil return pipe had to be done. I'm never happy to modify something to make it fit when I expect it to be a bolt on replacement, but I got it done anyway. A few more clamps and some creative splicing of hose onto the pipe later, I finished it. Then I wrestled the rubber elbow onto the compressed air output and drove it. The only other difference was a plate on the exhaust output side that I had to swap out from the Holset to fit onto the exhaust pipe. That was pretty easy. So, as far as performance goes; unless your old turbo is complete junk, you probably won't notice a huge improvement in performance, but it is there if your old turbo is about the same shape as mine was. Also, since this truck most of the time does back and forth to work daily driving type of duty, I can't say if this turbo does a lot for hauling performance yet either. Lastly, just to give you a better idea for your own comparison, this truck is a four wheel drive and almost completely stock. The only additions are a 4 inch exhaust (it does use a less restricted but not loud muffler) and it uses a K&N air filter. Pretty vanilla overall, but still very capable.Time will tell if this turbo is great, good, just okay, or crap. At this point I'll just be happy if it lasts for 100,000 miles and performs as well as the stock Holset did until it finally petered out. For the money that would be real value.

This turbo feels pretty good and has good turbines but I’ve had various issues with this turbo first off the bracket for the waste gate is very bulky and makes it practically impossible to adjust the waste gate without pulling the turbo and my main problem is the major drop in performance I saw on the stock holset turbos the waste gate is set to open at 20-21 pounds of boost pressure and with slight modifications can let the turbo spool to 22-26 pounds with this turbo installed with the out of box setup the turbo refused to spool over 12psi after some adjustments I got a max of 14psi after speaking to the company they stated this turbo is only rated to output 7.5-14.5 psi so just keep that in mind when buying if you just need a place holder it’s fine for the cost but you will loose power over stock
