If you want grip and control, this is the tire to give it to you. One warning though--don't go tearing around on your favorite black diamond first thing, because your first metered brake application using muscle memory from your old tires, might launch you over the handle bars. No joke! The EXO abrasion resistance is spot on as well. I don't worry any more when dropping through a jagged single-track.

This tire is a replacement for the front wheel on an eMTB. I am running it tubeless with Orange Seal.I ride in central North Carolina and we have lots of clay in the soil. When it gets dry (Summertime, mostly), the clay gets powdery and a bit slippery. This tire is similar to the Nobby Nic that I removed from my bike in that regard. But it is better when the trail is a little damp - the Maxxis knobs dig in a little better. Can't report on wear yet. Seems to track pretty well over wet roots. Better than the Nobby Nic, but not in a mind-blowing way. When this wears out, I will probably use the Nobby Nic again. I got caught in the rain once a few weeks ago, and the tire did clog up pretty good. Don't count on it shedding Carolina/Georgia clay easily.I also bought a matching rear tire, but the carcass is not as good a thread count as this one. Bought it and had it installed by a local bike shop. After trying to mount this tire, I found that tubeless tire installation is a whole 'nother thing than installing tubed tires and I wanted to let them handle the rear tire.

Bought size 27.5x2.8. Running front/rear on Co-op Drt 2.1. Big upgrade from stock tires. Not as grippy as some aggressive tread but rolls great and corners awesome. They definitely increased my confidence downhill which increased speed. I'm running them tubeless and absolutely no issues there. I usually ride very rocky tough terrain and tire durability is great too.

I'm using a set of these to replace some mediocre quality Surly "Dirt Wizard" tires that came stock on the do it all hardtail, the Karate Monkey. I wasnt impressed by the durability of those tires as they wear top fast in the center and become squirrely in dry/loose sand corners when we need to be leaning the steeds over, hooking with the hookers.Installed the Maxxis minion on the rear tubeless (is there any other way to go?), didn't even require soapy water for beading, and they were a breeze to set up at 8pm and be riding by 10 the following morning. I have no complaints about this tire, the big knobs are siped and climb like it's all a dream, on the descents it doesn't matter if it's hard pack, loose sand, rocky etc. Just lean it over and slide, baby slide! With Confidence! Havent tested it in mud but have no doubts shes gonna hook. That's how I feel about this tire and will never go back to those lame 60tpi wizards that puncture and wear too easily!

DHF is my favorite front tire bar none and this 27.5+ version is no exception. Definitely a little overkill for many of the trails I ride but I wouldn't trade the predictable grip and versatility for anything on the front. I run a Rekon+ on the rear on my nukeproof scout and so far it's matched up very well for the way I ride.

Just received and mounted these tires. Note - in the description it specifically states "Wide Trail casing optimized for 30 - 35mm rims" but this is NOT true. The instruction card that came with these tires said- "Minimum rim inner width 39 mm". I have 35 mm rims but mounted them anyway. I reading about rim width and tire sizes elsewhere it seems like this is more of a concern about grip when pushing the limits of the tire, but be forewarned if you are concerned about this.

Theses tires are expensive but you pay for quality. They grip in any condition whether you riding hard pack or in the mud or riding into the gates of hades they will not let you down. Treads are huge compared to the vee crowns i was running. Excellent mtb tire.
