I ordered this to be a Christmas gift for a family member who loves Harry Potter and recently discovered a love for cross-stitching. I haven’t tried comparing the thread colors to the DMC equivalents to confirm that they’re identical, but I ordered this kit more for the stamped pattern and reference sheet than the thread. The thread’s the easy part.The pattern is well-stamped, and the reference sheet is the best I’ve seen yet for a stamped cross-stitch. It’s full-sized, uses letters to make a key so you’re not having to question the exact shade of a color for the thread key, and is folded in a way that makes it easy to check within each section.This pattern also makes use of some back-stitching and other methods that are not 100% your basic cross-stitching. Since it doesn’t label itself as a beginner pattern, I’m not bothered by this.Please note that it comes with two needles, but no threaders or scissors. Most non-beginners would have the threaders and scissors already, so I don’t see this as a problem, but it’s something to be aware of.It looks like a nice kit.

If you are a true beginner I wouldn't get this set, I got it for our daughter who wanted to try cross stitch and it is definitely not a beginner set. The instructions don't make any sense and it does have a more involved complicated design.

I ordered this for our middle who wants to learn cross stitch. The directions and diagram are very easy to follow. She had a bit of trouble getting started but with help she's now flying along!

I haven't completed this yet as obviously it will take some time. But love the pattern and ease of knowing which color of thread to use. Super cute. Great piece for either a beginner or a seasoned cross stitch user. Definitely recommend.

When I open this project, was a little overwhelmed. But just take it slow and steady. It is a beautiful image. It's easy to use. The stamped image is good. I would purchase it again.
