I got these for my Grandson for Christmas. It has been a really nice experience and a chance for quality time with him.Surprised but I am really in to it. Have expanded the habitat but the worms have all been very healthy and happy. All but 17 have made it to black Flys. We have well over 500 Black Flys now.

One problem I have is the mealworms. All were alive, but it says 500 mealworms. What I opened it , it looked like enyware close to 500. So start to count and when I was at 50 I stopped because I had more in the jar then was left in the package. So I am guessing about 100 mealworms.

Set up my farm according to the instructions, a couple days later I already had some beetles which means the worms they sent are mature (added bonus). After a few days I thought a bunch of my worms had died but in fact they were transforming! In the process of sorting beetles I tried to count how many bugs I got but there are wayyy to many to count. I would recommend this as a go to, one stop, starter kit.

This ad made me think there were holes on the bottom where the babies could fall through to separate them from the adult beetles who will eat them; however, the tops are flimsy, the bottoms are good and the vent holes are nicely done; however, they do not filter as I thought they would. It's a lot of money for something you could likely make cheaper. We'll have to drill the holes on the bottom of the top one. With all of the things I bought that Amazon suggested, it was easy to get started within a few minutes, which was the original purpose, so for that, it worked, but you have to figure out a way to separate the babies from the adults, and it's a bit flimsy for the money, so for those reasons, it did not earn a 5-star rating.
