Very substantial grip/body. The blades are sheaved until you press them into the meat. They look extremely sharp and feel sturdy. Easy to clean up. I use the enclosed brush to dislodge any mess that gets stuck. It is a rugged tenderizer, but I will add this universal caution... whenever using sharp flat blades... in anything that you do... always to a safety check. In this case carefully depress the safety sheath and do a blade check... Make sure that for some reason... you didn't have one break and lodge in the meat... Some folks ie myself used to use a fork and go nuts with it... This tenderizer does so much more and with fewer less violent action. I tried this on a chuck roast, and I am very pleased with it's operation and results.

If you have never used a meat tenderizer, you will be amazed how much difference it makes. We used this tenderizer today for a couple steaks and we could literally cut the steak with a fork. They were so tender and juicy. It is simple to use and surprisingly easy to clean (brush is included for cleaning). This is by far the best tenderizer I have ever owned. The needles usually are round and look like round heavy duty needles, but this tenderizer has 48 needles that look more like little razor knives, which penetrates the meat so much better, but please use caution because these needles are sharp! I am very pleased with the quality, ease of use and the durability.
