They melt smoothly and evenly. I don't love the 7.75" length. I'm used to the 11" rods I use from a local cheap Chinese hardware/tool store.

I've been doing plastic welding with random lids from grocery items (usually made of polypropylene) but I thought I'd compare that to these polypropylene (PP) rods. The rods are much harder to melt for some reason, maybe because they're thicker. I think the rods might bond better than the lid plastic but it's hard to tell.The PP plastic rods stay workable longer than polyethylene (PE) rods I tried, so I prefer them, but you should always use welding rods of the same type of plastic as whatever you're repairing. PP is glossier than PE and there are other types of plastic as well, though they're less common.
