I put together a RS232 sniffer to troubleshoot the serial port on an old workstation. I just needed a cable that was easy to hack, and this one was perfect. Since it's a ribbon cable, I was able to easily crimp on an IDC connector and hook it up to a breadboard.

I'm using this for temporary connections from ILDA laser controllers to laser projectors. I got the M/F 25 pin DB25/DSUB ribbon cable. The length is very generous for the price making it an excellent value. I can recommend this cable and will probably purchase more of them.
