This was purchased for a side table inlay project that was for my Father.My Grandfather was a USN Master Chief Petty Officer Boatswain's Mate who passed away many years ago.He was awarded the Navy & Marine Corps Medal for Heroism while serving in Italy after saving another Sailor's life when he fell overboard. He struck one of the anchors and was rendered unconscious, my Grandfather yelled "man overboard" and jumped in to rescue him.I was given a Walnut slab that he purchased before he passed, and I bought this with several other USN coins, medals, and pins to inlay into that slab to turn into a side table to honor my Grandfather's service.I needed this medal as it was a vital to my family's memory of my Grandfather. The quality of this medal is amazing! Thank you so very much!
