This set was recommended by a fellow watercolorist, and I’m pleased with it so far. I’ve made a swatch page so I know the colors. There are so many. The water-filled brushes and small size make this the perfect travel kit for painting. The price is super-reasonable!

Because you need to open individual pallets to access colors, it takes up too much space to be useful as a travel pallet. There's limited space when you're traveling by train or air. After opening the paint there is no room left for paper.In addition, white paint was missing and one of the blues was already coming loose from the pallet. I'd only used it three times.Would not repurchase nor use in future.

I found this on happenstance when my daughter was looking for water paint brushes. There are a lot of inexpensive versions but I ended up getting ones by Pentel and while looking at those, I ran across this travel art set that comes with its own water paint brushes. My younger daughter really wanted it so upon reading a few other reviews for various travel paint kits this one sounded the best so got these and I have to say it didnt disappoint. Compared to the ones that come in a nice tin can, this is more compact and easier to hold on one hand while drawing with the other hand. I’m not an artist but I can see why this one is so popular. There’s no risk of paint falling out of the tin can and as a travel kit (we are using it at home) this makes most sense. Plus, if you’re getting it for kids, this one seems easier to hold and work with. Also, the water brushes work very well without any mess! We haven’t opened the Pentel version so can’t compare yet but I will update when we do use it.

I have used these on airplanes on the way to malaysia. I have used these in motel rooms in Florida and at my own home as it was snowing out. These are a wonderful set of colors, though I wish they had more yellows and whites because I tend to use those colors more than the others. When the yellow is used up, sometimes I will add some tube yellow to the empty little squares.The colors are true and don't need a lot of water so I can vary the technique such as a dry wash or wet on wet etc. The colors work well on a variety of paper- even on printer paper which is very lightweight -because the paint doesn't require a lot of water.I like it so much I bought it several times and shared them with other family members and friends of all aged. The size is absolutely perfect for tucking away in a backpack or even my purse to do art when the mood hits me.

I bought this for my daughter who loves to paint. It has always been a hassle carrying our watercolors around when we are on the go. We had to bring with us a huge pallet along with a cup and a bottled water. This product eliminates all of THAT. We just have to make sure to fill the brushes with water and that’s it. Just make sure to have your sketchbooks in tow and you are ready to paint wherever you please.It is easy to maintain cleanliness. Comes in a wonderful array of colors. The structure of the product is well thought out and easy to use. My daughter loves how smooth and easy the product is. It paints very well!

I took this with me on an international trip, and I won't be using it again. When I recieved them, three of the colours had already come loose, and one of the brushes kept leaking water everywhere without even squeezing it (looks like it was a fault in the plastic molding of the pen), and had to be tossed. I looked past those minor faults, and took it with me - and my biggest issue is with the paint quality. The paint itself seems to be closer in quality to the childrens watercolour kits, even with diluting, the paint comes across as syrupy compared to my normal go-to watercolours. Maybe I received a bad batch (potentially too much binder used?), but I did not enjoy painting with these. So two stars for the product arriving faulty, and the not optimal paint quality.

Such fantastic value and surprisingly good quality. I wouldn't say the paints are "high transparency", they're kind of like a cross between a watercolour and a gouache. Very vibrant and rich pigment. Washes aren't as easily achieved as a good quality watercolour, but the paint remains smooth and doesn't go grainy. I haven't tried out all of the colours as yet, but one of the yellows is a little disappointing, but overall, very very happy. I wouldn't use them in a professional capacity (I use Sennelier), but I bought them to use in my sketchbooks, and they are perfect for that purpose. Very neat and portable little set. I would have been happy with just the one water brush for the price, but you get a set of three flat brushes along with the one round brush - fantastic! Earth colours aren't so well represented in the palette, but from what I have tried, there's a warm and cool black, lots of greys, and the reds are much more vibrant than they seem in the palette. These would be great for older kids (the palette is a little fiddly for young ones, and bound to get messy), students, and for sketchbook and journal use (as I am using them). They'd be a nice little gift to spark someone's creativity.
