Although an 8" Chess Set is as small as MegaChess makes Chess Sets, it is still much larger than most chess sets. And yes, you can weigh these pieces! Find the hole in the base as a soft spot in felt. Poke a hole in felt with a pencil. Fill with fine sand. Enlarge the hole with a drill if in a hurry. Drip household glue in the hole. Let glue-sand mix dry to form a hole plug.

I re-floored our game room and tiled in a checkerboard in 4" x 4" squares. I bought these chess pieces and they are a perfect fit. They are obviously hollow, but have a pleasing heft. The included plastic foldable chessboard is not worth much, and went immediately into the trash.

This chess game is bigger than I expected! But it’s awesome! It’s portable with its carry box. The large pieces are easy to hold and move while teaching the game. It’s just all around cool! Prefect for outside.

It’s perfect for the chess club. Nice sturdy pieces. The only area that I would like to see improve is the chess board/mat. It needs to be larger and have better material in order to make it a better set. Otherwise, I’m satisfied with this purchase.

I love the piece a lot and so do my students who get excited whenever I bring it into the club. They break very easily however so use caution with younger kids. I wasn't a fan of the plastic board at all which doesn't flatten out and gets wrinkled easily. I would prefer a fabric or canvas or something over this cheap plastic material.Edit: I bought this a couple years ago and it's still in regular use despite a couple pieces needing to be super glued a couple times. I'm really happy with it.

I'm not usually one to complain about things like packaging, but... This was so bad. It had clearly already been torn into. The box was practically shredded, and taped back together. And the pieces were in baggies that I doubt were original, and even a couple of those were ripped open. The product was what I wanted, and in good shape - it makes no difference in the grand scheme of things - but from the look of things, this was a used product, while I was led to believe that I was purchasing a new one. I'm not very happy with that.
