This sweater is NOT made in Ireland. When I ordered the sweater, I believed it to be made in Ireland from the seller’s description. When the sweater arrived, it appeared of good quality and I was pleased with the look and fit. However, I noted the clothing tag did not state the country of origin and did not say it was made in Ireland anywhere on the sweater. I contacted the seller, Celtic Clothing Company, an American business, and specifically asked if the sweater was made in Ireland. They did not directly answer my question and only stated the manufacturer of the sweater is in Ireland. So I contacted the manufacturer, Aran Woollen Mills in Ireland, and told them that the sweater tag did not state Made in Ireland. I again asked if this sweater was made in Ireland. I was told that 85% of their clothing items are made in Ireland. They also said that every item they sell specifically will state if it was Made in Ireland or Designed in Ireland. Meaning, designed in Ireland is not made in Ireland. The responses I received from both the US seller and from the Irish manufacturer were deceptive in my opinion. Even though I liked the look and feel of the sweater, I returned it out of principal, and am awaiting my refund. It is unfortunate that consumers have go through this type of process.

I love the warmth of the wool and being a lined sweater. The lining makes sweater very comfortable without the itching that comes with traditional winter wear.

This is a lovely, cosy sweater. Love that it is lined and even has an inside pocket. The colour is really great and it fits so well. I like the elastic locking cord to loosen or tighten around the bottom. The cable design is so nice. Perfect Christmas present for a special guy. Very happy with purchase. Thanks.

I love this sweater on my husband! It looks so nice on him. I was going to go to the company directly the ARAN OF IRELAND company, as they were running a sale also, but I realized I could get it faster through Amazon. I really love the feel of this sweater. It is so nice and soft and the care that goes into each sweater is so nice it is handmade! It seems a little expensive, but it is well worth it

I ordered the gray XL and it fits perfectly on me. Looks great and it's lined nicely. The wool is not too hot or scratchy. A little thrown off that the zipper is on the "wrong" side, but I guess that is how the European's do it. Sweater seems very good quality and I look almost as good as their model in it. :-)I'll be looking for another sweater or two in other colors.

After reading the negative reviews I will say this:It fit as expected and is made from quality wool. The inside liner was more than I expected. It’s very soft, good quality and has an inside pocket on the inner breast that can fit my iPhone. The pockets for the hands are perfect size to fit the whole hand. It’s very warm in the cold weather and a sturdy, beautiful sweater. I don’t expect the inner lining to be so nice. It was a pleasant surprise.This will keep you warm as far as sweaters go. The color was slightly lighter green than the photos but it’s a beautiful dark Irish green…just a little one on the lighter side of dark green, if that makes sense. Very beautiful. Quality stitching and well made. I would follow the instructions and hand wash or dry clean. A washer and dryer could affect the quality of the fabric and basic look/fit of the sweater.YES, the zipper is on the “wrong side” but I have several Irish/Scottish sweaters that have this in common. It’s a little different than we in the States are used to buy the zipper still works the same, no issues there. It’s a pricey sweater but I don’t think you will be disappointed when compared to the other prices around for this type of sweater. Great thing about Amazon is if you don’t like it, send it back.

The sweater is as described. Yes, the zipper is on the wrong side, but being made in Ireland that is the way the make them. Extremely comfortable and warm, the lining is soft and cuts out the wind. Highly recommend and since they take so long to ship from Ireland, it is well worth the wait. Plus, the pocket on the inside is perfect for your cell phone.

This is a nice-looking sweater. The lining is fleece around the collar and a cotton lining elsewhere -- but no lining inside the cuffs. It definitely keeps me warm. I'd like to be able to give it a higher rating, but a couple of issues prevent me:1. It is a pretty generous cut. I much prefer a fitted cut (especially because I am pretty slim). But it's not egregious, and maybe this is the traditional fit of Aran sweaters.2. The zipper is weird. I don't care about the zipper being on the "women's" side -- this is 100% a men's sweater -- but the pull isn't the normal flat-but-wide shape; instead, it is perfectly round, about 3/16" diameter and 3/4" long. This makes it harder to find and get a hold of. In addition, although it is a "high quality" metal zipper, it gets stuck sometimes (not in the fabric of the sweater; just by itself).3. The waist of the sweater has an elastic cord running through it, and the elastic is adjustable -- you can cinch it tighter (and I do because of the loose cut). But when you cinch it tighter, the extra elastic sticks out in loops on both sides, which looks very strange. I plan to tuck the loops inside the sweater to hide them, and then use some safety pins to hold them there, but I feel like I shouldn't have to do this.
