Having built multiple sets of cabinets and other furniture, I have dealt with the setup, cutting, and installation of a LOT of recessed hinges. In the past I have fabricated my own jigs using a cheap template, then set up my drill press to cut the holes. I can already see where this jig will be a major time saver. Using it will be very intuitive with a couple of minor modifications. What I like:- The jig is very nicely machined and nearly finished. It just feels like a high quality item. Each of the holes for the thumb screws are correctly formed and chamfered making using and moving them around very easy. When the drill guides are not being used, there are four indicator marks machined into the recess that indicate where the center of the hole lies. This permits verification that the alignment and placement of the jig is correct. When the drill guides are in place, they fit with a reasonable amount of clearance, but not so much that it will make a significant difference in the accuracy of the holes. The other aspect of the drill guide for the main hole that I like is that there are recesses in the plate that it twists into to keep it from lifting up when cutting. Very clever!- Setting up the jig is simple because the markings are very clear, though the instructions are absolute garbage. In fact, you would probably be better off just throwing them away and looking online for superior guidance on how to setup and use it. Two things that I will point out are that the round plate mounted perpendicular meat the ruler on the back side of the jig is for a 35mm vacuum hose. The other thing is that the threaded hole on the right edge is a gauge for setting the depth of the forstner bit cut (see photos).- The included forstner bit is carbide tipped. This is pretty great because it will only be used for cutting these holes. It has a 12 mm shank so if you ever need to cut a smaller hole, for example 25 mm, as long as the other bit has the correct shank diameter and length, you should be able to use it very easily. (That will obviously change the offset for the hinge. Do a lot of measuring!) I do wish that the bit would retract a few more millimeters. What I don't like:- The collar for the forstner bit does not have a bushing. Without it, the collar will quickly scratch the top of the guide and may eventually cause more friction. A cheap brass bushing would have been easy to include - thankfully, this is easily remedied. The maximum depth of cut is about a half an inch with the supplied bit. This is suitable for every recessed hinge that I have ever used. Installing a bushing may reduce that slightly, but shouldn't be a problem.- The cam clamp is generally fine, but has a very small foot. In my opinion, this should be a much wider foot to prevent any chance of marring up the front of the door and to clamp the jig more securely.- There are many, many copies of this product. While I don't have any of them here to compare, I cannot understand why this jig (currently) is priced at such a premium. I looked at some of the other options available on Amazon and did not see anything that would make me think that this product was any better. Some of the less expensive options even look to be identical. I am not deducting any stars for this because prices obviously change, and all I can really do is evaluate what is in front of me.Bottom line: This is a very nice jig that I think will work very well. Price aside, I would definitely recommend it for any who finds themselves cutting holes for a bunch of recessed hinges. I think the time savings alone just in setting up would make it more than worthwhile - even at the premium price. This is a very high quality item and one that I expect to use for a long time.

I have built a lot of cabinets in my years for both my shop and my home. In my craft room alone I have 10 cabinet doors. I have been using the European style hinges that I got from Ikea when they were getting rid of stock dirt cheap. I built my own jig to install these hinges, and it only works for this one style and size. As I am almost out of my Ikea hinges I thought I better look into a jig that can do multiple sizes as this one does. I did not have any projects ready for cabinet doors yet, but I will have a few as I am slowly organizing my garage. I have only experimented with this jig kit and this was what I found. This appears to be well made solid aluminum that should not bend or deflect. The etched markings are very well marked and apart from a rather hilarious misspelling of the word "jig" they all seem well thought out. Having the ability to use this for multiple sized hinges is nice. There are reference pins that can help to place the hinge consistently if you are setting multiple hinges. The clamp on the back of the jig is only one point of contact and can be difficult to hold without moving, but it is helpful. I wish they had two clamps, or at least one with a bigger foot for more contact. Since you are clamping to the outside face there is a potential to leave a mark or indentation in the cabinet. The provided Forstner bit works but does not leave a clean cut. There was more tear out than I would expect from a new bit. I used a better quality Forstner bit that happened to fit the jig and it produced a much cleaner cut.Bottom line.. Good jig, pretty well thought out for use with multiple sized hinges. The clamping foot is too small for just one clamp and the bit provided was not a good bit. Price is OK, but you can find many of these jigs for around the same with two clamps, but you take a chance with the bit....

I ordered the KOONE cabinet door 35mm concealed hinge jig to help me install new European style hinges on my kitchen cupboard doors. I have never used a jig before, so I really needed good instructions. Unfortunately, the written instructions lacked clarity, but the online videos were good and helped me setup and use this jig.The jig is designed well with many nice features. The face of the jig has several helpful rulers and tables, including a ruler to help set the correct offset from the top and bottom of the door, thumb screw holes to set the offset from 2-millimeters to 6-millimeters from the edge of the door, a ruler on the right side to adjust the depth of the Forstner bit, and a handy table to convert millimeters to inches. The jig is made of aluminum alloy for durability and improved accuracy. I like that the Forstner cutting plate locks into place with a slight twist, the carbide Forstner bit is sharp, and easily drills a clean hinge cup hole. The drill guide plate fits in place tightly and I was able to accurately drill the pilot screws. The built-in quick clamp never slipped nor marred the face of the cabinet door, but having two larger feet may distribute the force of the clamp better than one small foot. This kit includes a 35-millimeter Forstner bit, stop collar, Forstner cutting plate, drill bit, drill bit guide plate, thumb screws and the tools needed to setup and align the jig to accurately cut the hinge cup and drill the pilot screw holes.I really like this jig and recommend it. I recommend using a scrap board to setup and practice using this jig before going live.
