Wasn’t able to use it the standoff that holds the cutting tool in place was too short for a standard drill

This was very easy to attach to my drill and it stays in place. It's also surprisingly effective at cutting through sheet metal. As others have said, trigger pressure is the key to making a controlled and straight cut. The price is right for this tool. Buy one and you'll wonder how your ever lived without it.

I test fit this cutting attachment on a 1/2" drive, a 20v drill and a 16v drill. The 16v drill fit the best BUT NOT before I put more crimp in the end of the whatch-ma-callit rod that extends from the cutters to the handle. The spring would not stay on the handle until I whacked it with a hammer in a vice. That rod was not long enough for the other two drills.I picked a piece of 22 gauge stove pipe metal for a test cut. On the low speed setting, the cutter operated quite fast and with little effort from the drill.Shown are the cuts in thin aluminum and the stove pipe metal.I'm glad it fit one of the drills. The extra weight at the end throws the balance of the drill off causing the it to tip forward. I was unprepared for the speed of the cut in both metals shown and allowed the cutter to drift to the side on a cut of about 1'. These were practice cuts with no index line in scrap material. Long critical cuts will take some planning and practice. Short, repetitious cuts will be a snap. The cutter is limited to flat stock. No corrugated metal, etc. (But some say otherwise.)

This will get the job done if you’re patient, but the cuts are jagged and it’s hard to follow a clean line. Better for rough DIY use than precise work.

I have some metal garden edging. The galvanized steel type. I decided to try it out since I wanted to use the garden edging to make a small raised garden bed, but my edging was extra long. I hooked this up to my Craftsman drill, and it worked. I still do have a little trouble making a straight edge, but it cut through it so easily. And my defense, it does go pretty fast if I pull the trigger hard, and I've never really been able to cut straight even with scissors, so I can't really blame this tool for my lack of straight cutting abilities. I'm just happy that it worked so easily. I cut four times with it so far, and each time I got a little better at cutting straighter. I didn't take it off of my drill yet, but it's pretty easy to assemble. I didn't actually do any adjustments to it, I use it out the box without fiddling with the Allen wrench or screw. Just put the bar on it, and attach the spring partially. When you have the drill bit in the drill, wrap the spring around the drill and it's secure. Not sure what issues others were having. Mine worked just fine. It's magic! I wish I had this back in November when my aunt was struggling to do the same thing for some raspberry bushes that we put over roots we couldn't dig into... just used the edging as a bed, added a nice pile of dirt and she kept bending it back and forth to make the garden edging break. This makes such quick work of that. When she sees this tool, she's gonna be kind of mad I didn't have it back when she was doing all that work, but I only thought of it after she did all that...

Another one of those pleasant surprises that pops up in an Amazon box every once in a while. To be honest, my expectations were pretty low given the way this attached to the drill. However, to my surprise and delight the tool did exactly what I expected it to. I have some thin aluminum left over from a patio cover build and it cut through it with no hesitation. Very handy to have a small tool that allows your battery drill to double up rather than having to buy another expensive power cutter. Read the specs and don't try to cut heavy material and this tool should do the job.

The fit for this item on your drill will probably be the deciding factor on whether or not you like it. It does chomp right through thin metal with ease. It takes a bit of practice to get the trigger pull 'just right' so that you're not going too fast or too slow. Once you get that down with your drill, this is super quick at eating through metal. I would say the price is right for a product of this type. It will save you tons of time and hand pain once you get used to using it. The cutting quality is better than I can do with my hand shears, but that may vary from person to person. My drill is a craftsman and i'm just about to the end of available adjustment length to make it fit right on my drill.

I have been nin the HVAC trade for over 40 years and have used everything there is to use for working with sheet metal. This tool works well at cutting metal. The only thing is the description says it will cut 21ga. metal and thinner. Not quite sure about that, but, for 24 ga. metal and up, it works nicely. And for the price, this is a good value. I found it easy to put together and to use. The one thing that is a pain in the neck to cut is corrugated roofing, but this cuts right through that easily and holds a good line. Very easy to use with the correct drill.
