The kit looks and fits great. No issues. I like the texture on the trim panel.

This might be long but I’m sharing what I learned from this install, hopefully it helps someone else and clears up any confusion about fit.1. Dash and Bezel Removal: this was shockingly easy. There is a single screw behind the plastic hook on the dash, sort of between the glove box and center controls. That is the only screw you need to remove but there are a series of tension clips you’ll need to gently pop out. I followed a video from YouTube. After removing the screw I went back over to the drivers side and started popping the tension clips from beneath the steering wheel moving towards the passenger seat. Use a trim pry tool if you have one so you do not mar your dash. As you open each one you’ll see where you need to go next. The two photos I posted of the before and after bezel show you the full area you are looking to remove. Surprisingly, there were no tension clips along the top of the radio area.2. You will have 5 or 6 connectors to unplug before you can completely remove the bezel and trim from the truck (photo attached, numbering does not line up perfectly but you can easily see your wires and connectors). Mine were (left to right); cigarette lighter, Hvac power, blower control, driver seat warmer, passenger seat warmer and passenger side airbag disable. The seat warmer connectors have reverse tabs on them. Instead of squeezing the tab against the connector and pulling, gently push the tab away from the connector then pull. Be careful not to push too far so you don’t break the tab.3. Fit is perfect on my 2004 Ram 1500 Laramie. If some experience fit issues on a 3rd generation Ram the problem might be with the slightly varying sizes of head units in the market and not with the bezel. The head unit I purchased comes with an extra bezel for the head unit to help tighten the fit and create a cleaner look. That extra bezel may or may not come with all head units, it depends on the manufacturer and how true of a 7” screen size their unit is.4. Drill or Melt: In one of the photos I uploaded, I circled a couple of the 12 plastic weld points that must be removed in order to replace the factory bezel. Drilling them out took maybe 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to go too big on the bit, you don’t want to ruin the keep portion the new bezel will attach to. Also, you can try to stop short of poking through the original bezel when you drill but if you’re committed to the install just drill, poke and keep moving. The original bezel should detach very easily after opening up all 12 plastic weld points.5. Wiring Harness: I have the Infinity system in my Ram. What I did not know when I purchased this kit was that there is an amp tucked away in no man’s land inside the dash. This wiring harness bypasses the amp and allows my speakers to work fine. Again, this could be different for you depending on the head unit you go with. I chose not to mess with the amp because you have to remove the glove box and the passenger side airbag just to see where Dodge slid this little baby amp into place. Putting hands on it was too much of a chore for me so I left it.6. Mounting Brackets: I ended up using the mounting brackets that came with my new head unit. For some reason the ones provided with the kit did not work for me. No stars off or complaints for that since a decent manufacturer should provide brackets with their head units anyway.I highly recommend this kit for fit, affordability, value and ease of use!

Just finished the install of my Pioneer MVH-1400NEX using the Metra 95-6522B install kit. Although more pricey than some of the knock-off install kits, the premium is well worth it IMO.The bezel itself is very high quality. The injection mold is precise, so it fits the dash opening well, and the external finish on the bezel has a good quality feel to it. You do have to "surgically" remove the factory bezel from the center dash panel. Don't be alarmed, this is a fairly easy process. I saw several other reviewers suggest melting the existing connection points where the factory bezel is plastic welded to the dash panel. However the Metra instructions suggested drilling each location lightly with a 1/4" bit, and use a flat blade screwdriver to separate the two. I followed the Metra instructions, and it came off very easily. I'd suggest this over melting anything. The AC controls and dash pocket unscrew from the factory bezel, and screw right back onto the Metra bezel using the factory screws. Metra provides additional screws and plastic buttons needed to attach the new bezel to the dash panel. No gluing like some of the cheaper kits. Overall the bezel installation was straight forward, and the end result looks great. The actual new head unit itself is remounted in the dash using the original mounting points. This kit includes brackets for the head unit that line up with the stock locations. Some of the cheaper kits mount the head unit to the back side of the bezel itself, which to me is less than ideal, as that puts a lot of weight and stress into the plastic bezel. You do have to cut the plastic shelf that is just below the factory radio. This is easily done using a hack saw blade gripped with a pair of vice grip plies. The plastic cuts easily, and I had it removed in a matter of minutes. This full/deluxe kit also includes the harness to tie into the factory radio connector, and the required antenna connector/jumper. The wiring harness is color coded to the standard aftermarket radio color codes, so you can splice it into your head unit harness easily by matching up all the colors. The quality of the wires and connector was very good. Nothing special about the antenna jumper, but a necessary piece to hook the factory antenna to the radio.Overall I'd highly recommend this kit if your looking to install a double din head unit in your 3rd gen Ram. It is a little "aftermarket" looking for my tastes, but all of the bezels for this generation Ram look the same aesthetically speaking, but the Metra kit seems to be the highest quality and most well thought out.

Truck had a single-DIN stereo head unit, and I bought an aftermarket double-DIN to replace it. It was an inexpensive (okay, it was a cheap unit from somewhere on the other side of a very large body of water!) radio. I bought this dash kit to make the install easier. "Easy" is such a nebulous term!!I'm sure that if I had been using a recognized brand name head unit, everything would have gone very smoothly. (There's a lesson in there somewhere!) But I hadn't, and I found, much to my frustration, that the people who made my radio must not have read the DIN specs very well. It didn't fit in the hole in the dash kit. Close, but not close enough!Quite a bit of surgery later, it did fit, however, and I was able to install the radio. When I was done, the dash kit looked like it had come from the factory. It was that good! The installation was very difficult, but I cannot blame the dash kit in any way. If I had bought the head unit based on reputation rather than cost, I would have had no problem at all.
