I am not using it for a 3D printer, but for my CNC router it works great. Just had to adjust the software to match the linear movement based on rotations and Bob's your uncle. :)

I love this slide bar, however the packaging was not in good shape. the part is fine but it was falling out of it everything and exposed ; it is ding free and not bent great job prime . it was not good , it is a precision thing .

We're in the process of switching out all our FDM Printers to use linear rails instead of the standard POM rollers found on pretty much all of them and so far it is working great!I got the single 900mm rail, and cut it into 400mm and 480mm rails to use on the x-axis to start, since the x-axis is probably the easiest the change.Upon arrival, the bearing block did catch in a few spots on the rail, and upon contacting the seller, they were able to provide some advice that was able to rectify the issue easily!Definitely the way to go if you're looking to convert your printers, or replace rails on a printer that already uses it.

This 450 mm linear guide is well made. It arrived in a sealed plastic bag inside an outer box and even with the usual shipping gunk on it, it moved smoothly with little resistance. I did not see any wobble or lateral instability. Although it could have been cleaned and re-lubed without disassembly, I took it apart anyway to evaluate the overall quality. There are many of these inexpensive guides available now that may vary quite a bit in quality. This is one of the better ones that I have seen in this price range. In particular, the machining of the raceways was good. Some guides have rather roughly machined raceways but as shown in several photos, these were quite smooth. The inner raceways were also clean as shown in one of the magnified photos, with no apparent drilling glitches in the middle. 3/32” Ball bearings should be 2.38125 mm in diameter. After cleaning, I measured one of the bearings at 2.374 mm, a little small but not bad. My only concern was that there were only 63 bearings in the guide. The longer MGN12H carriage blocks seem to usually have 66 bearings. I am not sure if that is a standard, but it should at least be an even number for the two raceways. This guide worked fine as received, but since I had it opened I added 3 additional spare G25 bearings to even it out. This linear guide is competitively priced and given the solid quality I think it is a good choice.

I like the MGN12 size for most light duty applications like 3d printing or laser cutters. These linear rails used to cost hundreds of dollars each - it is wonderful to see these low-cost variants for motor controlled projects that don’t break the bank.

Based on other reviews I had high hopes for this linear guide, but unfortunately I was somewhat disappointed when I opened it up. While it looks mechanically well made, the motion of the sliding carriages is not nearly as smooth as I would have expected. It feels like there may be a fine grit in the lube used for the balls. The carriages themselves seem to be "precise enough" - they do not appear to have an excessive amount of lateral play in their motion, they just do not move smoothly on the rail. Visual inspection of the balls makes me think they are probably a ball or two short on being packed "full", but I don't think that should make any difference in how well they work (there are easily 12 or more balls engaged on each side of the rail).Based on the other reviews I suspect the motion would smooth out significantly if I were to disassemble the carriages, remove the balls, clean and repack them. But having done that on other units, I know it is a non-trivial task and not something I feel like should be required before the product is fit for use - hence the removal on one star.

This linear rail is functional, depending on what you are looking for. But, it is not great. The biggest problem is that the rail is not straight. Over the 400mm length, it is bowed in-and-out by over 2mm (which can probably be corrected when mounting using shims) and side-to-side by about 1mm (which is difficult to correct without a lot of effort). The slide block does have very little play, which is good. The rail did not come well lubricated and there are a few spots along the travel of the rail where the slide sticks a bit. I think a good dose of high quality grease will fix that. In short, depending on your use case, this slide can be made useful with some effort but if you are looking for a straight, smooth linear rail out of the box you will be disappointed. it is probably good enough for an FDM 3D printer, but not suitable for a CNC mill.
