These spring tap guides are really beautifully made. Smooth as glass and dramatically less slop in the sliding point than the cheap Chinese versions. Only a couple thousandths of wiggle so it holds the taps dead straight. Just the right amount of spring pressure.If you are deciding which spring tap guide to buy, then you've found the right one. I now own 3.

I purchased this to help tap some holes in some steel rectangular tubing using my drill press. Unfortunately the spring tension wasn't quite enough and the tap was just stripping the threads it was making. The steel isn't anything special, and I was about an inch from the weld, so I don't know what to make of that.Either way, I was able to apply additional pressure with the drill press arm, and the threads ultimately came out great. It still made taping the holes a lot easier than doing it by hand.
