I ordered this to convert a twist shift 9-speed Shimano system. Indexing works great, but they can also be used as a friction shift unit.

I bought these a few years ago as a spare for my Shimano Dura-ace bar end shifters. The Shimanos are now 21 years old and the MicroShift are a great improvement. I thought my shifting issues were elsewhere, but it's obvious now that it was the shifters.

I added bar end risers to my under seat stearing recumbent. I chose this shifter as it brought the work to where I needed it. I'm using it on the friction setting and this is a comfortable, smooth shift.
