The range of motion of the friction function is greater than that of the average thumb shifter. As such, one can use this to move the derailleur cage over a greater distance. The piece also has a beautiful, polished look and is solid.

My first order had a shipping mistake, the seller tried to make it right, but in the end Amazon being weirded forced me to do a return and a reorder. Annoying. I almost ordered from someone else, but decided at the last minute to let Cycle Sport make it right. And they did.This is a very pretty little 10-speed thumbie shifter. I've been wanting to move my adventure bike over to friction for ages, started with the left, loved it and decided to spring for the 10-speed.Now it's 2x10 speeds, and I've got that low hill climber gear, and all the power I need for touring at slow speeds.Anyway, the Microshift friction shifter makes that possible. The shifting that had a hell of a time indexing, now shifts flawlessly, doesn't grind and just does it's thing. Plus this has a slick old skool look that I really dig. The aluminum looks more silver on screen but has a blueish cast to it in person, I like it a lot. The rubber on the thumbie is hard and doesn't feel like it'll turn to goo in a season.I like it. It does the job. Gotta love that old tech that makes the roadie bike snobs wince at my bike, meanwhile I've done more miles than they have in the last week.
