These are a pain from start to finish. They are so flimsy. However, if the mold was thicker, it would be impossible to get air bubbles out of the tip. If you do get a successful cast, you have to dome the back of the hook to make it round. Doming and filing can change the hook diameter, so best case scenario you get an inaccurate set of sub par hooks.

When I took the silicone molds out of the package some of them laid crooked so I soaked them in hot water and straightened them before using. After drying the molds and making sure they were fully dry in the hook part of the mold itself, I began the process of making the hooks. This is my second set I've made. The first set I took out of the mold after 24 hours and they were quite flimsy and could bend, but the more they sat out of the mold, the harder they solidified because the resin wasn't fully cured. This set I left in the mold for 3 days. No issues with any of the hooks bending. You do need to gently sand them down after the resin is fully cured. I find using a Dremel is the easiest way to do this and when I took this picture they still needed sanding. Use caution when removing from the mold. I found removing the hook end was the most difficult to remove. My molds never tore like some other reviews I read before buying.I highly recommend to only use 1-2 drops of acrylic paint if you are going to color with paint otherwise with the thin molds the resin won't cure correctly.

My first attempt to make these had mixed results, but that was my fault. When adding the resin to the molds, watch for a bubble at the tip - using a heat gun may help reduce the bubbles, and using a pipette to fill the mold from the tip to the bottom end is also works well. The other tricky area is making sure the molds are adequately filled. I didn't want to leave a long strip from over-filling, so I ended up under-fillingseveral of yhe molds. The result was hooks that were too thin, and therefore they tend to bend after I hold them for a few minutes. Next time, I'll take the risk that I might need to do more trimming and sanding than I might normally do. How about the hooks that were filled fully and didn't cure with a bubble until the hook area? They came out beautiful, strong, and functional. No issues with bending, no snagging the yarn, almost as smooth as aluminum hooks, but containing my own personal style. Definitely worth the investment.

The smaller sizes are good but once you get into the larger sizes it's next to impossible to remove the remove hook part from the mold. I'm using the UV resin and I've been putting each hook under the light for 18 minutes each (3 minutes increments and waiting 3 minutes between). I'm going to try the 2 part mix resin to see if the hooks will be less pliable. I wouldn't use these hooks for my extreme crocheting and certainly not with cotton yarn. They tend to be too flexible and this first batch will be used as decorative purposes only.I may revisit this after trying the other resin method to determine if that makes a difference in removing from the mold, as well as a tool for utility purposes rather than a pretty thing for display.

These molds are a great idea, but they're really flimsy. Two of them tore the first time I tried to get the hook out of the mold (and I was very careful). Getting resin into the hook portion without air bubbles is extremely difficult and fiddly (it involves a lot of toothpick poking of bubbles up inside the mold). The 2 smallest sizes will never be of use as actual crochet hooks- the shaft is too small to withstand even gentle use without breaking. I think the larger sizes will be functional, and I will continue to use those molds, at least until they tear too.

I’ve been sick so I’m just got around to making a set of these. I was beyond disappointed. The molds themselves are paper thin. So much so that 2 of cured with a slight cure towards the bottom. The “finished project is SO small there’s no way I could ever sell them. The part where the “hook” are, all have a slight tear. Not sure if that’s just how they’re made or if I got a defective set. My set also was so poorly made that I had to PROP them up against something, just to keep them upright. DONT’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! You get what you pay for....a set of cheaply made molds.

These molds are so cool. I crochet and have friends that crochet so I had to get these. I did struggle getting the epoxy into the top part of the hook but that would be true of any crochet hook molds. Overall great product. Would buy again.
