The only reason I gave this product one star is because I could NOT give it ZERO stars. I ordered these plug cutters to make plugs for four pieces of mahogany furniture that I made for my daughters children. They would not cut plugs out of the mahogany boards that I used. All they would do is make smoke in the ‘holes’ that I was trying to cut, though with effort, I was successful in making ONE plug. I measured it and it was less than the 3/8” diameter plug that it promised to make. Totally worthless tools, and a FRAUDULENT sale by Amazon. Now, for some reason, Amazon says I cannot return them.

Works well at low speed in cutting pine plugs. The shank also prevents slipping in my drill press' chuck. However, larger cutter overheats and struggles getting through hardwoods. I rely on my claw style plug cutter instead.

They worked well for my purpose. I didn't do the plug application. They would work a lot better using a drill press, as stated, rather than "free hand" drilling.

Takes some effort to get it started but once it gets a groove to stay in, it worked very well.

If you're using a drill press you'll be fine, but if like me you're using a handheld, predrill just enough to make a divot. Doing so will prevent the plug cutter from walking.

These work quite well in a drill press.Don’t be like me and try to hand drill them, it just won’t work - the bit will walk on the wood and when you penetrate it’ll crumble your plug. Slow and methodical on the drill press, don’t force it it you’ll burn the wood. Just let off every few cm to clear the dust and let the bit breath.I really like these after using them correctly.

Not sure I like the ejection or cutting blade style. Seems to work alright, but almost certainly requires a drill press. In field work with this is not that great as it tries to wander when starting a cut.
