The NiCad battery I got with my metal detector gave up on me long ago. I decided to get one of these AA battery holders since NiCad replacements are more expensive than rechargeable lithium batteries. Works as designed, no issues!

The regular battery looses its charge quickly. Using this with rechargeable batteries is much better.

Either they posted the wrong photo for the item # or the wrong item # for what is pictured. The minelab model #3011-0170 is the long black AA Alkaline Battery Holder that Fits Explorer, E-TRAC and Safari. Make sure what you are getting before you order.Photo I have added is a real Model 3011-0170
