This anatomical model is the perfect size to display on a bookshelf or a desktop. Especially if you’re a doctor or a doctor-in-training, like my friend for whom I ordered this nifty product. This is, simply put, a LEGIT skeleton model. It’s maneuverable and anatomically accurate. The perfect study tool for someone training to be a doctor, scientist, or physical therapist. It’s not the most high-end anatomical model, but for its size, it does the trick. It shows you the basics, so I think this is more intended for a beginner. Or honestly, for decoration.Assembly is quick and easy. You’ll have your 17” human skeleton model ready to go in just a few minutes after removing it from the box.

I ordered this cute little skeleton to pose on my bookshelf along with my collection of Gray's Anatomy books. The quality is about what one might expect given the low price and small size of this skeleton. I do think the product description is in need of some revision as this skeleton is in no way as anatomically accurate as it is suggested to be. I've named my skeleton Murphy (after the law, you know). Murphy is easy to assemble -- there is a hex nut, wing nut and two washers for putting the stand together (just a stainless steel rod with threads at one end that get attached to the white plastic base and the unthreaded end that fits into the base of the axial skeleton (nut and one washer on the upper surface of the base and the other washer and the wing nut underneath the base). The upper extremities are already attached, but the lower extremities have tiny little bolts and need to be affixed to the pelvis via tiny little hex nuts. The product description states that the natural movement and posture of the spine can be demonstrated. This is not the case -- Murphy's spine is immobile and there is no movement possible between the spine and the skull. The product description also states that the skeleton features realistic movement and every foramen, suture and groove is visible. This is not exactly correct: Murphy cannot assume standard anatomical position. For the upper extremity, there is limited movement at the shoulder but the articulation at the joint is not anatomically correct so the movement is not realistic. There is also some movement at the elbow and wrist. The bones of the wrist and hand cannot move. The same is true of the lower extremity...The skull does show the major sutural lines and a few of the foramina. The calvarium can be removed from the skull so some of the major features on the inside can be visualized (fossae, sella turcica). This model is not really suitable for advanced anatomy students, but it might be useful for beginners as the model can be used to supplement time in the lab by identifying various skeletal elements, describing how they articulate at the joints, and classifying the joints by structure or function. There is no key for the model, but a detailed colored chart of the skeletal system is provided for comparison to the model. I think it would be easier to just use a reference text or online resource. The current price is $21.99 which I think is a bit high and I wouldn't recommend this model for anything other than for decorative purposes or as a very basic study aid. Let me reiterate: VERY BASIC.

A sturdy fellow and taller than I expected too.It comes in 2 pieces and you assemble them very easily. I like that you can kind of pose it too. The joints including the jaw are movable (except fingers, toes and spine of course).I highly recommend this if it tickles your fancy.
