great case w pocket, tuner and instruction sheet...so happy to get an extra set of strings. My hubby is musical and we know w nylon strings they stretch so it takes time to hold a tune. the cardboard box it came in is ugly so i say present this in the great case! It does sound ancient and mid eastern, haunting but so pretty. i have the 18 inch mini but this is large enough for my big husband to play a lovely tune! it is easy to play from either side unlike others out there and i suggest thumb picks too. i wanted it b c its scriptural but its meditative on my first try a lovely tune eminated from only 3 strings... but the dear LORD will like it! "Make a joyful noise to the LORD"!

After some preliminary research, this is perhaps one of the lyres with best price-to-quality ratio out there. Both with her antique design and the crisp tones, that is to say, in E Chromatic Dorian of course. Not to mention the mini version's portability.Although the first Kinnor came with a slight dent at the corner, the CS team is very supportive and resolved with a prompt replacement. Excellent service.Pleasant to the eyes and ears, couldn't ask for more. Now it's time to take her by the riverside and play something along the lines of Seikilos' or Shemer's...or perhaps...

I carefully adjusted the bridge to the specification (9.5" - 12.75") but was unable to tune the top three notes: the pegs wouldn't maintain tension. Disappointing, because there are so many good reviews.

I had to do some googling to find out how to tune this instrument. It came out of tune, and with no instructions about which note each string was meant to be. We have never seen or played this instrument before, I purchased it because it looked like it would be fun for my musically inclined child to play with, so I had literally nothing to go on. I ended up watching youtube videos and reading websites about lyres. Which helped me learn that a kinnor harp is a type of lyre!Anyway, here is that information, if that's what you're here to find! From low to high (thickest to thinnest string):C – C4D – D4E – E4F – F4G – G4A – A4B – B4C – C5D – D5E – E5As far as the instrument is concerned, it's beautiful, in great condition, has warm wonderful tone, and I am very happy with the purchase.

While tuning it, the knobs did not want to stay put so it made it impossible to stay in tune.

This harp is even more beautiful in person. I have yet to be disappointed by Mid-East. Reasonably priced and decent quality instruments. HOWEVER make sure you read the measurements- it is a little tinier than I realized but I still love it. Also do not be discouraged with it falling out of tune -this is normal with many such stringed instruments and will finally hold after about a week (of tuning at least once a day). It is on the quieter side but majestic in sound. Still loud enough to entertain a few friends :) Oh and you have to set the bridge yourself but it is not hard -it comes with instructions but the picture here on amazon helped me visualize the angle better. Beautiful decor even if you had little interest in actually playing it.

This harp has a very sweet, but soft sound. The wood is evidently not of a top notch sheesham/rose wood quality. I guess this is the price for what you'd get from the manufacturer. It is quite light weight, so that makes it easy to carry around and play it on your lap.

Quite pleased with my purchase. I am a teacher/exponent of Biblical worship and this harp is wonderful to play and use for instruction. King David could have used this! It has a nice tone and assembly for me was simple. I have experience with guitars so pulling out my tuner and setting the bridge was no problem, although the instructions were very clear in any case. I was also pleased it came with an extra set of strings (I haven't changed my first set although they advised to- no need) and a nice soft carrying bag. I keep it in the box for extra protection till I can get a hard case. Would surely recommend on quality, price and tone.

My boyfriend is a master guitarist, and he has been playing for over 50 years, since he was a child. In recent years, he has wanted to try his hands at any other stringed instrument he can get his hands on. He now has everything from a banjo, a mandolin, a viola, a violin, an auto-harp, a resonator, an electric uke, and a dozen different kinds of guitars. But this harp will be especially precious to him on Christmas because he has always wanted to play a good quality instrument from the time of King David. The Psalms and all mention of David playing his harp are very dear to my guy's heart. Now for the stuff you actually want to know: the wood is beautiful. The lovely highlights and tones of the grain are deep and rich. It is beautiful to look at and to touch. The construction of this instrument is excellent-- strong, sturdy, substantial, and a joy to hold, even in my inexperienced hands. The tone is so peaceful and genuine, although it is easy to see that new strings will be a great improvement. It is nice that an extra set came with the harp, but I also bought a higher quality set of strings. The gig bag was an extra special surprise! It is strong and the handle is well structured, and the extra pockets are useful while not distorting the clean lines of the bag. I can't wait to hear my guy play this on Christmas.
