I ordered the least expensive cable I could to connect my external 19" flat screen monitor w/ VGA input connector, to my 2004 27" iMac 2.8 GHz Core 2 Dual w/ 2 Gig RAM, running OSX 10.6.8. At first the cable seemed to work, but then it became clear I could NOT get the connector onto the computer cleanly. It would not go all the way in, and thus seemed a bit loose. This seemed to lead to an issue where the external screen went blank, and then about an hour or two later, forced a hard shut-down of my Apple (iMac). This lack of a solid connection got me rather upset, as I have made such a connection thousands of times before, so this must be a manufacturing quality issue. I had to do a hard re-boot, and when I did, I initially left the cable off, in case the output amplifier in the iMac got damaged. The machine re-booted fine, and I was back in business. About 8 hours later, I tried re-connecting the adapter cable, and again after pushing quite forcefully, I got the cable to seat adequately (argh!), and when I turned on the external screen, I had signal again (yeah). It seems to be working reliably, but I continue to worry about a potentially loose connection.I would probably have preferred to have paid a few dollars more for a better, snug and 'touching' connection, but this will work for now. What do you want for $5? Every dang thing!

I expected that the product would have some sort of glitch due to its low price; however, I soon found that this was not the case. The product arrived in about two weeks and immediately responded when I attached it from my 2007 MacBook to my Dell monitor. All it required was that I go to my display settings and adjust the resolution and placement size. Overall, this product is worth your 4 dollars. There is no need to buy the 20 dollar apple connector as long as this seller is still offering. Thanks for a great product!

This cable works just as well as the Apple cable for me and was much cheaper. It isn't as nice looking, with ugly black text running along the cable (that reads: "HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) Int") but for $5 it's a steal. Shipping was through the USPS so it was naturally accidentally sent to the wrong state first, but that's just the USPS.Update (8/10/2012): I only used this a few times back in March-April when I got it, then tucked it away. I took it out earlier this week to connect a PowerBook to an external display and everything was pretty blue. There's a blueish tint to everything - it's still usable but very annoying. I'll be ordering an Apple connector, I think - sometimes being a cheapskate doesn't pay off.

Clumsy me dropped my Macbook a few months back. What started as a small black line cutting across the screen has developed into a big black slash, making it difficult to see the lower left quadrant of the screen.Oops. Oh well. It was a 13" screen anyway; time to buy a decent-sized monitor and put away the magnifying glass ;)Bought a monitor but needed an adapter. This one arrived super-quick, and was simple to install. I have had no difficultites with it whatsoever. The pins, the wires... construction is fine and the connection is sound. I am surprised at the mixed reviews because I am thoroughly pleased with how inexpensive it was for the quality use it provides!

I bought this for my 2010 Macbook Pro. This cable DOES NOT work with it. I won't give it a bad rating, however, because that's entirely my fault for not doing the proper research. What I needed was the mini display port to VGA adapter. That being said, I gave this to a friend of mine who has an older Macbook and it worked great for her. It's a good looking cable and feels solid. If this is what you need, I'd recommend picking it up.

I bought this Mini-DVI to VGA adapter for use with a Mac Mini. We had the original Mini-DVI to VGA adapter cable bought from Apple, but because of a bunch of cables behind the computers and things getting moved over time, that original Mini-DVI to VGA cable adapter got twisted and somehow developed some kinks in it resulting in occasionally no picture going to the screen. So, I bought this new generic no-brandname Mini-DVI to VGA adapter as a replacement. And it works. It looks exactly like the original one. I bought this Mini-DVI to VGA adapter from amazon marketplace seller "UnitedIntegral" for a little over five bucks with free S&H. A good purchase without spending too much.

I own a late 2008 White Apple Mac. I wanted to be able to watch HULU on my big screen TV. This Mini-DVA to VGA Female monitor cable adapter worked perfectly. The connection to the computer (the Mini-DVA little sideways U connection) is a perfect fit..it is pretty snug and does not fall out. The VGA Female connection fits perfectly into the male to male monitor connector I purchased separately.IMPORTANT: This mini-DVA cord is just an ADAPTER...it is not the only thing you will need. It is very short anyways, and would not work to connect directly to your TV or monitor. You will need a monitor cord. This adapter is much cheaper in price here than on the Apple site, so I highly recommend you buy it here.

This is exactly what I needed and what I hoped for. Its simple and short and works without fault. My only issue is that one of the plastic covers that it came with to protect it doesn't really go back on. I had held on to them to keep it dust free when I'm not using it, but that isn't so much a product issue as much as a packaging issue because I'm pretty sure they weren't made to be used beyond opening. Overall, it easily does the simple task I needed it for.
