Heat defense is constructed of highly reflective metallized polyimide film, the same material used by the space industry to protect sensitive instruments from high temperatures. The film is laminated to glass cloth using a high temperature laminating adhesive. Heat Defense withstands up to 675 degree Fahrenheit of radiant heat and self-adheres using a high temperature pressure sensitive adhesive, which is protected by an easy to remove protective backing.

Don't buy. Don't buy anything from mishitmoto. The adhesive does not adhere to anything!!! It comes off easily.

Using this heat tape on my cold air intake did make the temps come down a little but that’s still good enough for me to see that this tape does make a difference. It is a little hard to keep the tape flat and it wrinkles if you aren’t perfect with Latin fit on the pipe but it’s works so that’s all that matters to me.

brilliant stuff, I have had this stuff on the inside of my fairings for months now, had to take them off to service the bike and put some new hoses on her, they have held up to thousands of miles and still in great condition, no melting points on the fairings from the exhaust or engine.

This tape will not bring down temps farther than around 90 degrees. I assume that it was able to reflect heat at any degrees, but may will under extreme temperatures. I went crazy with this tape, left side of engine bay is gold. it is not sticky but will stick to almost any thing in the engine bay. Dusty parts? No problem simple wipe off and it will stick. Application is more like vinyl wrap than tape. Very manageable, and able to smooth out bubbles with a card easily. Highly recommend.

I was looking for something to have a bit colder charge (pre turbo) for my Focus ST and reduce engine bay temperatures. I came across this and definitely made the right purchase! Not only does it add to the engine bay appearance, but also reduces surface temperature by 10-15*F by the turbo inlet coupler and closer to the first bend after the filter, and Charge temps by 5-10*F. Compared with another Focus ST with no heat reflection tape on the intake just after an Autocross run with a digital temp gauge.
