Just hot helpful for me at all. M payable machined better would help. Very sad about the device I just bought a new table saw & was really trying to get this thing to help get it set up & be accurate as possible, unfortunately, got so frustrated I threw it into the trash,

I put this together with an 8" caliper. Total cost ~$36. It's a lot easier to work with than a combination square, and gives better results. No, it's not professional machine shop quality, but if you're just learning your way around, it will work for you. Later you can spend a few hundred dollars on a pro setup if you want to.

Wanting to check my new table saw alignment, I looked at various dial indicators, from expensive (Starrett, etc.) to cheap - the cheap ones were appealing but had various issues (longevity, accuracy, quality). I already had a reliable digital Vernier caliper so I thought to try this out before investing in a purpose-built measurement tool, since this is an infrequently done task. This mounting device is clever and accurate - fits very snuggly into my standard mitre slot. I was able to see I had a table saw blade within spec, easily and accurately (.002" in at the back of the blade). So - I'm happy. I will say, through others' helpful comments, that I checked the size of my digital caliper before I ordered. It fit perfectly. I had to mount the calipers backward to get the reading on the blade, then switched it around to read the parallelism of the fence (I think I have to adjust it - it's out .0295"). See image for how it looks on my table saw on the fence reading position. (Saw: Laguna Fusion F1).

I bought this, like a lot of people, in the hopes of calibrating my table saw blade without needing to spend lots of money on a single-use tool that I'd only pull out a couple times a year. Although it clamps onto my 6" calipers just fine, and appears to hold the calipers at a perfect 90 degrees to my miter slot, it won't allow the depth gauge on the calipers to reach the blade properly. So, the instructions recommend using a spacer block to accomplish this. I guess if you have some sort of a perfectly machined block this might work, but after trying two different spacer blocks, and getting two different measurements from each, I gave up on using this to calibrate my saw blade. I'm sure it will still be useful for calibrating the fence, hence me giving it more than one star, but it was a bust for what I bought it for.

My saw was already very accurate...but with this device and my 6" caliber...my fence and blade are now PERFECTLY tuned. It is so nice to set measurement and confidently make the cut without all the rechecking before making the cut!I am not sure what the configuration issues other reviewers had when they said it is only for small saws. Mine is the largest table saw Ridgid makes and it worked without any issues.

This tool has worked great for me. I set my table saw up in no time flat within a .001 of an inch, or less than 1/64 of an inch. I couldn't get it that close with the wooden jig I made along this idea. So, it was worth it to me.The jig had worked great the first few times I used it, but I was setting up a new table say and by the time I had the blade and fence set up once, I discovered the table top was warped. I had to get a new one. By the time I got the new top on and started trying to set the blade and fence again, the jig I made could no longer hold my caliper stable. Every time I moved it the caliper would shift.I would recommend this tool to anyone wanting to get very accurate setups of their table saws. But, from what I've read and after using it myself, Digital calipers might have a problem, especially if it's under 6 inches. That's because the housing of the electronics of a digital extend a ways down the length of the caliper. It might work with a 6 inch Dial caliper, but I think that depends on your table saw, at least for the blade. This tool will work to set any table saw "Fence" because you can bring the fence to the caliper. Even with a 6 inch caliper. Maybe even with a 6 inch digital caliper.I do need to qualify that this is assuming your using a fairly standard sized, metal caliper. It may or may not work with plastic calipers.

This is a quick and easy way to align your saw fence, but I do have a couple of caveats. 1) not all calipers fit: this item won't hold many of the smaller-size calipers... so if you've got an undersized 4" caliper you might be disappointed. 2) This jig won't work to align the saw blade with the miter slots on every saw. It does fit a standard miter slot, however, depending on the location of your miter slot relative to your blade, you may not be able to adjust the caliper while it's mounted in the base. For example, on my Jet cabinet saw, the miter slots are positioned in just such a way that this jig will not work to align the miter slots with the saw blade. It's hard to describe why, but it has to do with the sliding jaw of the caliper preventing me from mounting it at the necessary distance from the blade to get a measurement.BUT for this price, it's a great, easy and quick way to make micro adjustments to a saw fence.

The MAG-DRO Mitre Slot Caliper Base was exactly what I needed to properly adjust my Ridgid table saw. I have been building cabinets for my living room and found that I was getting burn marks on my table saw cuts. I tried adjusting the saw blade using just my calipers but just couldn't get it right. This simple device made the adjustments easy. I was able to set my saw blade up .003" wider at the back of the blade between the fence and blade. This prevented binding between the fence and the blade. I also easily trued my fence with this handy device.I would highly recommend it. All you need is a pair of 6" calipers and you'll be good to go. No expensive dial gauges or other devices are needed. The manufacturer website has some helpful videos that show the different ways this device can be used.
