It's flu season again! So the kids are sick... again.I've gone through a few thermometers in my time. This is why I like this one.1. It uses AAA batteries. I've had thermometers that use button batteries and they're always dead when you need them.2. It's quiet. Some thermometers have a really loud beep and it'll wake up a sleeping kid.3. It's not gun shaped.

Functionally I really appreciate how easy this thing is to use, ergonomically. It’s easy to hold and handle while trying to take temperature. The problem I had was the inconsistency and temperature reading, my baby had a temperature of 101.5 and I could not get this thing to read over 98.1 even with multiple attempts.

Started right up after taking the plastic tab out of the batteries, which they include! This device is useful for many reasons, not merely to check for fever. I love that it will check the temperature of regular items, too, as this helps with checking on agar media bottle temperatures when you are trying to make agar plates with petri dishes. You want to the sterilized agar to be hot enough to pour without having solidified in your pour bottle, but not so hot (like when it comes out of the pressure cooker) that it melts your petri dish. This thermometer allows me to check the media bottle temperature with the agar solution inside it to catch the temperature for pouring at about 157 degrees, which is before it gets too cool and will already solidify, requiring a new boil. So this helps me really pinpoint the moment of pour into my petri dishes.But for standard health reasons, it picks up a temperature and also remembers it! The arrows on the side will show you whether the most recently taken temperature has risen from the previously taken temperature--pretty cool. I'm registering about 97.8 standard temp over and over and my wife is about 97.3 over and over. So I'm presuming this thing is at minimum very reliable even if it might be off by a couple of tenths of a degree here and there, not worried about it. I I like that it also is super easy to use with just a touch of a button and the scan begins. Change of mode is also easy. Very valuable and reliable equipment for the price. I'm very happy to pick this one up, and it is easily a 5 for us.

Have wanted one of these for awhile. Finally bought one, and am soooo glad that I did. Had to try it out as soon as I got it. Basically instant read. No need to touch the forehead so it stays clean. Fits great in my hand. Easy to us. Large easy to read display, no more guessing. Great quality, accurate temperature reading when compared to a regular thermometer. Great price for a useful item.
