Pleasantly surprised at the durability and sound quality of this inexpensive flute! Uses heavily by my 5th grader and stands the test.

2019 granddaughter is finishing up her third year flutist with this flute. Next year she will go into marching band in high School. I will be donating this one to the Middle School band program. Even with the Dents & Dings it has been a great flute only being worked on one time to align holes. I would recommend this to anyone as a starter to intermediate flute

The flute came with sticky pads and a foot joint that didn't fit right. It needed repairs immediately and then another set of repairs 6 months later (I'm an adult who is very careful with my instrument, not a kid tossing it around). Finally, another round of repairs was needed 6 months after that (a third round in a year), at which point the money invested would have been much better spent on a better flute to begin with. I bought this one because I wasn't sure if I was going to stick with playing again (my original flute was given to my niece), but wow, it was such a waste of money. If you're on a budget, you'll be much better off purchasing a used GOOD flute from a local store (vs from an individual - so that it's in top shape and has a warranty) - this was what I ended up doing instead of getting the third round of repairs. And at the end of the day, I'm turning this Etude junker into some garden art and some of the keys as a necklace/earrings so at least I get my money's worth.

UPDATE: flute lasted just under one school year. By the end of the year one note would not play. Would have cost more to repair than to buy a new one. The good thing about this flute was that it cost less to buy than it would have cost us to rent, so for a beginning player it was okay. The case handle broke within the first 3 months. We ended up having to replace the instrument after the one playing season. My son's music teacher recommended this brand as a starter so we got it. Son is very happy with it, and I have no experience with instruments like this, but it sounds and looks stiff to me. He is easily frustrated with the key action.

I purchased the Etude EFL-110 flute for my teenage daughter. I enjoyed hers so much that I purchased a second one for Daddy!! The flute has a nice warm tone -- Even throughout both registers - Intonation is great - It has made it through a full year of school and I only had to tighten a screw in one of the pads. I love you amazon

For the first year of school we rented a flute and it was very expensive once you add all the "extra's" and it kept breaking down which meant more trips to the store for replacements. This flute worked excellent this year and he will use it for next as well. Hundreds of $$'s cheaper than in the stores and the same quality. I love it and it sounds good as well.

The good:Great sound, in tune, still working after a few months of play.InexspensiveGood toneEasy to playOnce I adjusted the joints it fits together well and no air leaks. The bad:Cheap plastic case.Difficult to open the cheap plastic case due to lack of spring assisted opening .IE need two hands for two latches and a third hand to lift the case while holding the latches. The cheap plastic case isn't molded very well to fit the parts.I had to sand down the end joint to get the flute to fit together well. You'd almost break it trying to force it together. The head piece joint is pretty loose but air tight.Neutral:This is a VERY light flute. I had an old pawn shop flute I played back in Jr High and it weighed a lot more than this one. Doesn't seem to affect it in any negative way. Just thin walled construction.
