I picked this particular one due to the larger flat spot on the crimping point which impacts the lug connector, so I think this is excellent for large lugs like 4 awg and bigger, it was super easy for me to crimp 2 awg lugs with a 4 pound engineers sledge hammer. You are limited to doing crimps where you have a solid surface to smack with a hammer, so I still use my hydraulic hand crimpers for car project on rare occasions when space is tight and the wire is short, but I 100 percent prefer this tool for both the speed and quality of the crimp. I wasn't expecting much due to how cheap it is, but it just works. Crimping isn't complicated, simple tools like this are often the best choice. 5 out of 5, would buy again.

Fantastic....SO glad I bought this simple thing...SO much easier than my big, cumbersome, potentially leaky hydrolic press, and the crimps are better, tighter, WAY faster, perfect in the field, on the boat, etc, all it takes is about 3 or 4 good whacks with at least a 7oz hammer...done !

This inexpensive tool - hammer crimps a wider range of the larger AWG copper lugs than the hand held type crimpers I initially looked to buy. My project requires crimping AWG#8 to AWG# 2/0 size cables for my DC-DC and LiFePO4 battery RV system. The photo attached is AWG#6 THHN copper wire and #6 copper lug with a 5/16" hole to close fit over the M8 studs of my LiFePO4 battery and DC-DC charger. This tool works well to make up ready cables outside of the vehicle for installation. As noted by another reviewer I read, it may possible (but more challenging) to hammer inside a vehicle to replace a lug connected to a factory wire harness.

This little crimper did the job better that two other crimper I have purchased. It is easy to use and you get a great crimp. There is no reason to buy an expensive hydraulic crimper if you just need to do a few dozen crimps.

I had been looking at these for a little while as I was just getting ready to install a fairly powerful sound system in my Suv. I needed to run 1/0 Guage wire and then 4 Guage wire from my Capacitors and lithium battery bank to my 2- 2,000 watt Stinger Amplifiers and 8 Guage to my subs as well. Also 4 guage to my 600 watt 4 channel amp. Had to make quite a few crimps of different Guage wire and once you get the hang of how to use it properly it worked every time. I had zero issues, the spring loaded striker is strong enough to hold your connector securely well being easy enough to pull up on the lever. This is a solid piece of steel so I don't expect it to break, i mean it is made to hit with a hammer after all!!

Used this tool with a hammer to really make sure the lug nut on battery cables was secure - well worth the money
