I wanted something that would fit in a desk drawer that I could use to keep cash, checks, etc., in. I didn't want a money box with a lock, etc., because all of them were too big, and I didn't need to organize bills by denomination, etc. This is like the tins that you used to to be used fruitcake or something and then reused for storage, except it's exactly the right size for currency.
