There is an adapter to make it fit. Once in, it does not come off. Ruined my monopod trying.

The metal receiver insert for the monopod is screwed into the plastic handle with no added support or extra length for strength. The very first time I pot it on and snugged it down the plastic threads snapped and the handle came off.For this reason, I cannot recommend this handle for hiking or trail walks if you are counting on it to regain your balance on unstable surfaces the average stumble.

I have a mountain smith hiking pole/monopod.its inherently designed to BE a walking stick. BUT the handle/knob on top is a soft foam and as Im presently using it as a cane after an injury right now the OEM knob isnt great. This turns my already great hiking stick into a useful lightweight cane thats ready to go where I need, and I can still utilize the monopod functionality.

I made greater progress in rehab with trekking poles instead of my cane, but trekking poles do work well everywhere, especially in airports. Carrying both poles and a cane for travel was a pain. I saw a lady with a cane that looked like a trekking pole base. Did some research and found this handle. Works perfectly with my favorite poles. Now I’m ready to travel and walk anywhere! I had high expectations for this. It is sturdy and well-made, that's not the issue. For me, it's a design flaw issue. Both ends should have a 3/8" threaded socket so that a ball head can be secured vertically. If I had a small point-and-shoot camera then I'd be satisfied with the ability to secure a small ballhead from the side socket but that isn't the case as my camera is a Nikon Z7. It's still a useable accessory; it just means I have to carry it and another handle whereas I'd be happier with bringing just the one.

I have been looking for a T-shaped handle for my hiking staff/monopod to have in addition to the round knob that came with it. This handle is lightweight but seems sturdy. With the adapter nut that came with the handle it fits perfectly onto the 1/4" bolt on my staff.

So far, so good. It will save the clutter of an additional stick for walking. Seems strong and comfortable. Don't abuse your monopod though - they're expensive.
