Got this for my grandpa because he’s blind in his right eye, just tall enough where he can rest his head on the stock and see down range with his left eye

I would put some blue lock tight just to confirm the lock with the screws. Dont want my scope falling off.

the product isn't badly designed. it does mount as easy as any other optic or scope. the only issue i found was the riser will not mount correctly if you are trying to cover over the area where the hand rail meets the upper receiver. where the two meet there is a wider section of the picatinny rail. if you have it centered on that it will not line up on both ends. it has to be mounted fully on either the upper receiver or the hand rail. it will not line with one end on the hand rail and the other on the receiver. if the mounting studs were just a tiny bit further apart it would be perfect no matter where you choose to put it. I had to rearrange some of the furniture to make everything fit. in the end i was ok with the result but for some it may be a deal breaker. i did purchase two of them and they are both in use on different rifles. both had the same issue.

I mounted this to my 450BM upper to try it out. I have a great set of ear protection but obtaining a consistent sight picture with the typical scope mount meant I had to move my right ear cup. Compromised ear protection is not uncomfortable when firing the 450BM and 50BW, it is painful. After mounting this to the top rail, I find it much easier to get a clear view through the scope, achieve a consistent sight picture, ground the shoulder brace solidly in place, and maintain my ear protection.Ordering one for each of my other uppers!

This cantilever riser mount does exactly what you expect and is actually quite a bit higher than most. These are light-weight mounts that are good for a wide range of optics, but are especially good for Low-power variable optics (LPVO's) where you need lots of flexibility in terms of getting the eye relief distance adjusted just right. The cantiliver rail on it sits out farther so it lets you position the optic farther out than standard riser mounts. Need it closer? Simply flip the riser mount around. I use this one with a Center Point 1-4x LPVO and it works great because that optic has a very narrow range of eye relief and needs to be positioned farther than most if I want my adjustable stock in its shortest position (how I prefer it for home defense so as to shorten the length of my firearm). The only downside is that it is quite high so if your optic is like mine and came with scope rings that were already high, you need to be aware that you're going to have significant height over bore axis. So you'll probably want to purchase some low height scope rings. It's not a deal-breaker however and is necessary if you want to mount this on a AR-15 that has a traditional permanent front sight and don't want that front sight obscuring your optic's view. Aside from that, it is easy to install, light-weight, and seems quite sturdy.
