Everything worked but I had to glue the chip from my original key to the new one because the safety features of the car wouldn't allow it to start without it totally worth the money if you need a new ignition cheap.

I bought this as a DIY fix for the common Honda ignition key issues. The part itself is at least as well-made as the one I removed from the Honda. The only shortcoming is that there is only one key included with the set - I should think I can get another made since the key blank is just for a Honda. I will need to find a key blank that takes the chip from my 'spare' key. I am now using a two-key system - one for the doors and another for the ignition. The ease of installation (or lack thereof) has nothing to do with this part, and much more to do with how it fits to the vehicle and the removal of the old cylinder. The entire project essentially centers around that 'roll pin' that holds the cylinder in place and then needs to be reinserted afterward. I bought a very small tap set and used one of them to pull the pin out. It's pretty hard to get at and see (a flashlight and magnifying glass were helpful here). It's very easy to break the tap off in the roll pin so you may be better off buying or borrowing a roll pin extractor. Some people have had luck with other removal methods. If you are discarding the old lock cylinder you can drill next to the roll pin to access it from the back. You will need to save it though for reinstall unless you have another. I should also mention that the hole that receives the roll pin on the new part was slightly undersized and I had to drill it out slightly. Much better than if it were too big. They (Honda) should have just used a set screw here but the metal (zinc?) is probably too soft and might strip if torqued too hard. The project is definitely doable by someone with access to tools and YouTube. It took a while, but for the slight inconvenience of having just the one key and now requiring two separate keys for door/ignition, I think I spent less than $40 for the part and the tap set and I'm back in business. Had the part in my ignition now for about a month with no issues.

The part was not as it seems it does fit in the cylinder but the security bar that goes down inside the shaft is not the correct one. it's not supposed to have all those bumps on the silver long thing it's supposed to be one smooth long bar with a bump at the end had to take the old one off and put it on this one works great afterwards. For people who don't know what they're doing it's not considered a direct fit and I wouldn't advise trying to do this.

I installed this on a 2004 accord and it eventually worked. For anyone else that watched a bunch of videos, I was able to remove the cylinder without removing the entire assemble around the steering column. There were two screws I had to remove at an angle and chewed them a bit, but they came out. I also had to remove the RFID chip from the original key and place it in the tiny compartment in the new key. I read some blogs that said you could just tape the old key head to the new one and it would work. That was not the case for me. Once the RFID was in the new key I also used Elmer glue to prevent it from rattling around.

If I could give this more stars I would . This saved me over $300 on parts alone. I have been blessed to be mechanically inclined so this took me about an hour. No need to reprogram your key just put the chip inside the new key. The only downside is you had a separate key for your ignition versus the door and trunk. But that is the only inconvenience I would highly recommend it worked on my 2003 Honda accord EX four-cylinder.
