It's a relatively common problem with F-150s that one day you will start the truck, attempt to shift out of Park and the gear selector will be locked in place. The problem? The brake light switch that is mounted near the brake pedal has failed. As a result, your brake lights will not illuminate and the truck will not shift out of Park because the truck believes you do not have the brake pedal depressed.The solution is to replace this brake light switch. It is stupid simple to replace. You don't need any tools and it takes less than two minutes before you're back in business.Unfortunately, this part is very poor quality. I installed it to replace the original switch in late May 2023 when my truck was 13 years old and had about 143,500 miles. The part failed on Nov. 12, 2023 after about 8,000 miles!Don't waste your money here. Go to the dealership and buy a quality OEM part. Or, at least buy two of these and keep one as a spare so you don't find yourself stranded away from home.

2012 Ford Fusion. Works like a CHAMP! Installs with one hand. I had my old unit out and new one in under 3 minutes. My dealer wanted to charge over $100 to replace this. No way.

I found this product to be exactly as described. The part was a little difficult to replace due to the location under the dash, but once it was locked in place I didn't have to worry about it coming loose. I definately recommend this product to anyone looking for a replacement brake light switch.

This was a frustrating repair. When this piece goes out the car is inoperable unless you know about a special series of buttons located near the shifter (I did not know about this until 3 hours later). I ordered this part from amazon for a fraction of the price and thanks to Prime it was here in no time. It took me 5 minutes to switch out the parts and this part worked flawlessly. It has continued to work without issue this entire time.
