Some moths ago, I discovered that the driver's door window switch on my 2020 Ford F-150 refused to automatically close or open that window. The auto-close function actually worked intermittently while the auto-open function just quit. The switch still operated the window; it just required me to hold the button up or down.Now for years as a young man, I often owned cars and trucks that used hand cranks to operate the windows. The idea that the window's auto function quit working just enforced that fact that I, like others, was now spoiled rotten by the features of our modern vehicles. I suppose I could have lived for years without fixing this, but I paid a lot of money for this truck and I want it work work correctly. All the time. You know, even after less than three years of ownership.I had to bring the truck to a local dealer for some alignment work and I asked about getting the switch adjusted or replaced to fix this problem. They called to give me an estimate and after doing the math, I learned that the switch, which needed replacement, would be fixed for about $200. After I picked myself up off the floor, I asked them NOT to do that part of the job.A few YouTube videos demonstrated the ease at which the switch could be replaced (which just verified what I already assumed). I shopped a number of places, including directly with Ford, but I found the best price right here. The switch was delivered the next day. I had the old one popped out of the door frame in about 15 seconds. Unplugged the wiring, unscrewed the case holding the switch (note: this requires Torx-tipped screwdrivers, which I already owned), pulled out the old switch housing, then did the reverse with the new one and popped it back into the door.Total time for repair: about five minutes.Total savings: at least $130, most of which likely would have gone to "labor."This is the genuine replacement part, not a clone. This is a great price.
