Anodized aluminum parts usually have outstanding durable color schemes and also are strong and light. Not these units. The first thing i noticed was how heavy the package was! Taking the guards out, you can't notice how insanely heavy they are. I'm not talking like a-bit heavy, I'm talking you can't believe how such a thin/small part can be so absurdly overweight. In fact, I bet they weight 3x as much as the stock units i was trying to replace! Usually, the ultimate goal is to save significant weight and increase esthetics. Not so with these heel guards. I couldn't get them back into their original packing fast enough to try to help erase this traumatic experience. I'm not in the market for a matching pair of paperweights.. Should have trusted my instinct and went with the carbon graphite set from MotoComposites, even though these real ultralight CF units cost 6x as much (and you can only get in a "red" "tint" at a 3-4 month turn around). Perhaps it is my fault since the weight is listed in the description as 312 grams or 0.9 lbs.Edit: Just thought of a way that the US Navy can save huge amounts of contract money. Buy these units instead of contracted custom small patch units and use these instead as off-the-shelf ship hull patches. Thick, heavy and would pass the current Part 7B, Ch 1, Sec 8 certification for ice breaker vessels. Of course I am joking, but pretty sure I'm not too far from a practical usage.

Thicker than the OEM guards but nicely made and fitment was spot on. When removing the OEM guards they have a spacer on the back with a rubber grommet to prevent vibration. I removed the grommet as the thickness of these makes that a non issue and will bend the spacer. That being said in case there are any thread depth issues I did reuse the plates just to be safe. Looks great on the graphensteel 650

before and after photo's (on both side too). I thought that kick plate was white, like the rest of my bike, but upon closer inspection, it was just a dull aluminum gray. Yuck. The hot-red is so much better. Plus it has some milled texturing in it, to provide some actual grip for your footwear, although I doubt that too important of a feature. Very happy with this product.
