I didn't know much about wifi and was setting it up for the first time on my own when I came across this option. I will not be in my current apartment long term, so I was looking for an affordable option that would still be cheaper than renting a modem from my internet provider for a few months. After reading the reviews, most of the negative ones were because of the packaging or condition of the product, not how it functioned, so I decided to give this a go. It turned out to be the beat deal and in great condition!I don't know how large the wifi range is because my space is a one bedroom that isn't too big, but if you are an apartment dweller or in a similar boat, I highly recommend this option. If you are looking for a long-term modem solution, I would recommend a 16x4 modem because internet speeds will likely get faster, but for now, this is plenty fast. When I plugged directly into the modem, my download speed is about 95 mbps. At first my speeds were only about 25 mbps over wifi, but I switched the settings to 5gHz and over wifi in the next room my speed now ranges from 70-90 mbps, which works great for my needs video conferencing a couple hours a day, sending emails, and surfing the web. I was able to set this up in under 10 minutes. Trust me, if I could figure this out, you can too! The most difficult part was figuring out the default login to change the wifi name and settings, since there was no manual. If you need them, the default login is: "admin" and the pw is "motorola".

I purchased this remanufactured router modem connected it. It did not work. I called their customer service and I actually spoke to a person right away without waiting. They said they will send me another one immediately. Meanwhile the cable company came and they never connected the cable outside. So the modem was working perfect it was the cable companies mistake. I was able to cancel the second modem they were going to send me before they shipped it. I would have felt bad if they had the pay for shipping for something that wasn't their fault.

i have a 1300 sq ft home and this is in the exact middle of the home. my floodlight ring camera on the side of my home has difficulty connecting sometimes. my iPhone connected while in my bedroom usually stays at 2 bars, sometimes one. i used to have the xfinity router and devices would stay connected even while starting to walk up the road.also, not sure if it’s my xfinity service, but plenty times a day it just loses signal — nothing loads for a minute or so. the previous one didn’t do that but it was ~$30 so.

The product probably works great. It connected to my service provider to start set up without me having to do anything except open a browser window, so super 'ease of use'. But that's as far as I got because when Amazon "renewed" this device they didn't bother to put a WiFi password on the back sticker. It was just blank, so there was no way to connect. I tried calling Motorola, and they CAN reset it and provide you with a new password but you have to pay for their technical support if you want that, which defeats the purpose of paying the cheaper price for the renewed item. At that point you could just pay full price, get the proper information attached to your device, and set it up as normal. So that is why one star - not for the device specifically, but for Amazon's "renewed" option for this device.

Out of the box, none of the passwords worked. Called customer service and was on hold for about twenty minutes. When I spoke to the rep, she tried to sell me a service plan. I declined and she said she could not help me.Google and YouTube helped me figure it out. I had to do a factory reset and it has worked fine ever since. I have had no issues with Wi-Fi connections. Works fine with xfinity. I run my tv, two laptops, a tablet and two phones on it at the same time...no connection issues. For the price you can't beat it...would have given 5 stars of it went for customer service.

So, I was having REALLY slow, lagging internet, and multiple connection dropouts during the day. I did some searching around and it turns out there are a couple of TI chipsets under the "Puma" name that are known to have this issue, and there's an entire website or two related to them; I found my old modem/router on that site, I ran their test and sure enough, my modem was bad. I pay for 100mbps with our cable company and was only getting 30-35mpbs. Got this in this morning, hooked it up, called the cable company and gave them the MAC address of my new modem, and BOOM, I'm now running around 105-110mbps again. This is not a gigabit capable router, but for most standard cable internet use, it is fine. Wifi signal strength seems as strong, if not a little stronger, than my old SMC modem/router, too.UPDATE: After having this for a few weeks, I want to give a quick update. The modem and wired router part of this unit has been fabulous, and is still chugging along. That said, a few days into owning it, I noticed that I was having trouble seeing the wireless with my phone and my Roku box. Turns out the wireless in this unit is kind of weak, I ended up getting a stronger wireless router to use with this, so now I only use it as a modem. I would absolutely buy this again, however, just because it is fairly fast and works as advertised, as long as you don't have too large an area to cover with wireless. If you do, you'll want to get a separate router with external antennas or a wireless extender to use with it.
