I received the 8 inch gel dual memory foam futon in hunter green. The cover is polyester , NOT cotton. The futon was manufactured 10/3/2022 and is shrink wrapped. It has a noticable chemical smell similar to drying paint, which is supposed to dissipate when the futon is open for a few days. We will see. I included the product label. The fill is as described. The cover is part of the futon mattress and cannot be removed, which is normal in my experience. I bought a washable cover to go over the futon. The futon mattress weighs 76 pounds, so it is easier to move with two people. I will write a follow up review in a month on comfort and durability.10/18/2022 update. It has not been a month yet, but here is the update. The chemical smell was gone after a few days and the futon is very comfortable. We are happy with this purchase.

I was upgrading to a mattress to use in winter home as couch and extra sleeping. It was easy delivery and set up.I was very dissapointed in the neutral cover. It was light weight muslin and the stitching in place of the buttons is very poor. I had to get a cover right away. The comfort isnt bad sitting but it does go down to solid quickly. After time it fluffs back up. I haven't tried sleeping at night but it naps well in folded position.

I received this futon mattress a week ago. After unboxing and letting it expand, it is fairly comfortable on my futon free but, the off gassing smell from this mattress is overwhelming. I have been dragging it outside every day since Sunday to let it air out on our deck and putting it in the garage at night so it doesn't get wet from the dew. The smell has disapated a small amount. Considering returning it if the smell doesn't disapte greatly over the next day or two. It is disappointing because I was so happy to have a futon for the basement.Update: over a week since it arrived. The smell is too strong. It has been in my garage or on the back deck during nice weather to air out. It still smells. I have bought memory foam mattresses in the past. They didn't smell. Something isn't right with how these are made to have such a strong odor. I will be returning it.

They say don't skimp on certain things in life and beds are one of them. I had a cheapo futon (frame + mattress for $100), but a weld on the metal frame broke after 2 years and for a while even before that, I could feel the frame through the thin (6-inch poly fill) mattress. So much for bargains. :PSo I was trying to decide what kind I wanted to get to replace it knowing I'd have to spend a bit more for quality, but which one to get?... inner spring? Foam? Wrapped foam?... So I looked at all the reviews for the the ones I was considering and narrowed it down to an 8- or 10-inch with wrapped foam. I avoided the inner spring because I kind of assumed that it might squeak sooner or later... haha. I really liked that the two I narrowed it down to had a cut-away picture of the memory foam inside in the descriptions... that was super helpful. The 10-incher had flat pieces of foam inside, but this 8-incher has egg carton foam in the center with flat foam around it and some kind of fill around that. That was the deciding factor -- so much foam! It's kind of heavy and no real place to grab it to move or maneuver it. Would be nice if they came with handles.... lol. Another factor was both are double-sided meaning you can flip it over and get the same results -- in case you leave a dent where you've been laying on it, you can flip it and its fresh again. Also it's made in the USA which is nice. People in other reviews complained of the odor. Sure it had some at first, but it went away after a while. I have a thick plush queen sized blanket over it for added cushion and to go better with my decor, so the twill cover material isn't really a factor for me, but it's still nice enough in case I ever don't have anything over it.Anyway, I've been using it for a few weeks now and love it. I wasn't sure if I should get soft or firm or whatever, because I have back issues, but this one is comfy because you sink only a little.. soft enough to fill in your body curves but with plenty of firm support. I also bought a new frame, a wooden one this time which also turned out to be a great buy, but that's another review. :P

It's a big and hefty mattress. It's very comfortable, and easy to sleep on. the mattress doesn't sag and I weigh about 220lbs. It's a little of the firm side but that's not a problem for me. Don't expect memory foam mattress quality, but if you have a young back and need a decent futon this is probably your best bet.

At first I was against buying this Futon, I mean, come on man, over $200 for a futon mattress!?! But, my wife insisted we get the higher dollar one because it needs to last a long time for our son's new bunk bed. I caved in and ordered this one instead of the cheaper 6" thick version, and many of the other's I looked at for less than $100. I'm glad I listened to my wife, because this is a very nice bed. It was wrapped so tightly I thought no way would this be 8" thick, but within 15 minutes it had expanded and was very plush and comfortable. It's still easy to fold up and down from couch to bed too. Very impressed with the quality here. Glad I didn't go cheap.

Pros: Very comfortable, both as a couch and to sleep on. Puffed up to full size a few hours after taking out of the box, so we were able to get it into our rec room in the basement easily before it expanded. Good price for how nice it is.Cons: It is only stuffing when you unzip the zipper, so not possible to take off cover and wash. I may need to buy a cover for it since I have children and pets and will want to keep it clean. Also it is very heavy, which is probably why it is so comfortable, but it makes it a little difficult to open and close our wood futon.

I'm a side sleeper and I found the dual foam to really help with reduction on pressure points and circulation. It took about 2 - 3 days for the new mattress smell to die down but the mattress is very comfortable for every day sleeping. I would buy again.
