Funciona muy bien, y el hecho de funcionar a 12v es la clave para poder probar directamente con la batería del coche.Recomendable.

In the past doing my own mechanic work, if I even suspected a spark plug might be failing I would just simply replace it. I had no way of checking the spark plug itself with proper equipment. So when this little guy arrived I was quite excited. After doing some testing on various spark plugs, new and old, it performed beautifully. You can literally tell which plugs are becoming faulty and the machine is very accurate. Also love the fact that it can test not only the shorter plugs but the longer plugs as well. I would venture to say that this testing machine would not only work great in a DIY environment, but a professional mechanic's environment as well.

I am glad I finally got one of these. Check your spark plugs on the bench, with no pain. We had always just tried to check them on the motor. They usually wouldn’t sit where they would be grounded and you’d wind up holding them in place while you cranked and that would cause some intense pain when you became the ground too. But that would only tell you if they were sparking. With this you can not only know if their sparking but you can see how good the spark is and see how it acts at different rpms. Prove to yourself side gapping spark plugs actually works. I’m enjoying having this in the shop.

Initial impression:The item arrived promptly and in good condition. The entire enclosure is plastic, which means don't drop it!Usage:Testing the spark plugs is straightforward and easy. Inset the spark plugs into the brass fittings on top. Most plugs will fit since you're inserting the porcelain end, rather than the electrode end (which can have varying reaches).Small plugs such as for a chainsaw may need some tinkering to fit an extended to reach the hold down clamp beneath the brass fittings inside the box. I haven't done that yet, but it should be easy. The clear plastic cover is there to protect you from up to 1,000 volts generated by the device. Use it. You will notice a odor when opening it to retrieve the plugs, so it's pretty energetic in there. The tester really does help distinguish strong from weaker plugs. Although an exact match in spark intensity may not be critical, it's good information when testing. The knob varies the frequency and intensity of the spark, and the rheostat seems solid (I haven't disassembled the box to check that).I will use this device to clean only conventional old-school spark plugs. Avoid using abrasives on plated plugs, and platinum or iridium plugs whether plated or not should not need this kind of cleaning. It's best for smaller ICE engines that are prone to oily buildup, especially 2-strokes.Verdict:I like it.Recommended.

Its a cool toy to mess around with so 4 stars, but as for testing the actual condition of your plugs it is practically useless.Spark plugs fire inside the engine in a mixture of fuel and air compressed to about 10 times the atmospheric pressure, give or take depending on the compression ratio of your engine. The increased pressure means that it will take a significantly more amount of energy for the spark to jump, the added fuel also increases the energy required for the spark to jump (Paschen's law). These testers test the spark plug at atmospheric pressure which do not require much energy to fire. Bad spark plugs will fail to fire under compression of the fuel and air mixture but will still fire in the open atmosphere due to the decreased energy requirements. They do make spark plug testers which test the spark plug in a pressurized chamber full of air.
