This little unit that sort of looks like a cheapie plastic flashlight arrived simply but safely packaged in a plastic insert inside a cardboard box, with instructions and a USB charging cable. (Wall adapter not included.) The unit included a pre-attached lanyard.Charging worked as intended, and the instructions were basic but understandable. The unit included a 3-position side switch, and three control buttons. With the side switch in the middle position, the unit was off. However, in the off mode I could press the bottom control button to activate a flashlight. The flashlight was very dim, but I suppose could be useful for avoiding fumbling around in the dark to unlock a door, for example. With the side switch in the forward position, the unit was "on:" (i) flashlight button still functioned for turning the light on/off; (ii) pressing the middle button caused a human-audible beeper to sound (e.g., to get a dog's attention); and (iii) pressing the upper control button activated the ultrasonic function. The ultrasonic function seemed a bit finicky, in the sense it seemed to work sometimes but not all the time. Impossible to tell if it just wasn't activating, or if our dogs were just not reacting for some reason. However, what seemed to work better was holding the button down while having line of sight (to a barking dog). In that situation, our dogs definitely reacted - quite suddenly/noticeably - and stopped barking. So my thinking is that perhaps the unit functions best when pointed directly at a barking dog with no obstructions, i.e., line of sight. With the side switch in the bottom position, the unit was in "detect barking" mode. This function worked ok, but more so if the dog was in close vicinity to the unit when barking. E.g., having the unit upstairs with a barking dog downstairs did nothing. The unit was lightweight and small but not super small. It could definitely be carried in a pocket, however. The ergonomics of the controls was acceptable.Overall, this unit worked well enough that I would consider it a good value, at least for "stop barking around the house" purposes. Not sure I have a clear enough sense on exactly how well it works to recommend it as a field deterrent for attacking dogs, for example.

This bark deterrent definitely works good in getting the dogs attention. Like all training aids, you need to use this in conjunction with proper training techniques and commands so the dog learns. I have a very reactive dog whom I am training. When I take my dog for a ride in the car to or from anywhere, they can react in the back of the vehicle while I am driving, and I unfortunately cannot reach them to get their attention. With this device I can command their attention in the middle of a reaction from up in the front seat. This device is small enough that I can keep it in my car or in a fanny pouch if need be. I like that it uses a rechargeable battery. What I do not like is the switch on the side. It is too easy to accidentally flip it on when holding the device, including turning it on to auto bark mode. There is a light, although it is not that bright. I do believe this is likely a safer and more humane option that a shock collar. I think the price is fair because this device definitely works. Overall I like the device but I wont say it's perfect because of the switch placement.

My neighbor’s dogs bark constantly, and it was driving me crazy. I decided to try this ultrasonic bark deterrent—and it actually works! The barking has noticeably decreased, and I can finally enjoy some quiet. Easy to use, rechargeable, and safe for both dogs and people. Definitely worth it!

I enjoy going for walks around the neighborhood, but worry about some of the dogs that bark angrily from fenced yards. If one of them got out, it would be good to have some sort of deterrent. I got an ultrasonic bark deterrent device advertised for having a 23-ft range and in my tests no dogs seemed to even notice it. I decided to try one with a longer range and got the mriya Dog Bark Deterrent Device with its 50-foot range. The mriya Dog Bark Deterrent came in a nice cardboard storage box along with a charging cord and a printed manual. The device seems solidly built and fits well in my hand. It is a bit large for a tight pocket, though. The top of the device has three push buttons. There are two modes set by a slide switch on the side, one that produces an ultrasonic sound when you push a button and another that automatically activates the sound when the device hears a loud noise. That second mode would be used to make the device respond every time your dog barks. I’m not a dog owner, so I don’t know how well that will work to reduce barking. The mode labels are the same black color as the body of the device, so it is hard to tell which mode you are in. When the mode switch is centered, the ultrasonic functions are off, but the light can still be activated with its push button. The light a single LED and puts out less light than a smartphone’s flashlight.Since my need was for a dog deterrent, I gave it a full charge and headed out on a walk to see how it worked. Over a week of walks, each time I passed a dog being walked, or in a yard, I activated the ultrasonic sound within distances of 10-50 feet and not one dog responded. I did get a reaction from several cats, though. This is the same reaction that I got from my previous lower-powered dog bark deterrent device. At one point, I felt the device becoming very hot in my pocket. It has not done that since then so I can only assume that the act of sliding the device into my pocket turned a mode on and the tight fit in my pocket was holding down one of the function buttons. So, for my need as a dog deterrent this did not work. It may work as a bark deterrent, but notethat not all dogs will react to it. At least free returns are available.

MY DOGS STOPPED BARKING!!! My dog tend to howl at night because of the animals at night. It has a barking detector which is really convenient when I can’t use it. This is a must have outside and indoor for training.
