my house is on a slab, so the top 5 inches over the floor is always cold. I wear Muk Lux or equivalent cabin socks with soles from fall thru the spring to keep my feet warm and prevent chapping. They typically last 2-3 years of continuous wear before the soles wear through. they can be worn outside (patio, sidewalk or driveway) so long as its not wet. However, these are not skid free. I slipped on the tile floor of my kitchen while carrying a large box. sprained my knee and picked up a number of bruises. The addition of some anti-skid nodules (comparable to those on socks used in hospitals and rehab facilities) would be a worthwhile addition.
