I would return it if I could, if you have a decent microphone like a Shure or something like that your voice will be way too quiet for anyone to hear. It also gets disconnected all the time. Waste of money

The MXL Mic Mate Pro has everything built into it, including 48v phantom power, to transform your favorite condenser mic into a USB mic that plugs into your Mac or PC ! If you are a professional or aspiring Voice Over Talent, Podcaster or Musician, you know what it means to have good quality equipment. There are no flimsy parts on the Mic Mate Pro. It's solidly built, makes a solid connection with microphones and is powered by your computer's USB port. The 48v phantom power is always on as long as the unit is connected via USB cable. Although small, the mic and volume gain knobs are smooth and easy to adjust; and, they cranked out more than ample mic and headphone boost with about 50% left on each gain knob! As a veteran voice over talent with studio skills of 40 years, I give the MXL Mic Mate Pro Two Thumbs Up! I think anyone who buys this unit will love the versatility and mobility of using their favorite condenser mic as both a USB mic connected to Mac or PC and as a fixed studio mic connected through a pre-amp. This is the tool every audio wizard must have in their magic bag of audio tricks!

I have recorded via various means, such as using a AT2020 USB mic trying to record rap vocals. I have also used a Tascam digital recorder and an AKG and Blue Bluebird microphone. I needed a new mic (AT2035) and input to record some stuff for a podcast, and this works extremely well. I am using Audacity for the software, and this has been excellent. The driver was found really easy, it is super easy to connect, and my vocals sound so clean and professional. Recording has certainly become cheaper over the years, but this set up is far superior to using the Blue Snowball or Yeti IMO. All in all, it cost me right around $215 with the mic stand, pop filter, mic, and this Mic Mate. I'm incredibly happy with my purchase.

It works exactly like I hoped. I own a small software-as-a-service company and this adapter is being used to help me make training videos in Camtasia on my laptop. I am also a musician, so I already had a good-value Audio Technica condenser mic from my normal recording setup, and the mic coupled with the MXL sounds stellar dry. For my business, I separate all my activity to my work laptop and want to produce the training videos there, and it is nice that this adapter takes no desktop real estate. On a previous laptop with older OS I had a table-top adapter by M-Audio, but after switching to the new laptop running Windows 8.1, I discovered that they refused to update the drivers. I am pleased to say that my new MXL was recognized and I spent zero time setting it up. It simply worked right out of the box. The only nag I have is that I would have liked a more positive "snick" when plugging the adapter to the mic, like when you plug in a mic cable. It is a somewhat delicate connection, so I will have to take care. But aside from that, it is everything I hoped.

Eccellente, lo uso con un ECM8000 e sinceramente mi aspettavo molto peggio! Scheda audio di eccellente qualità. Anche con un buon microfono a condensatore per voce dovrebbe dare il massimo. L'oggetto è in alluminio.

I've given this 5 stars because of how easy it is to use this mic. It has inputs for both your microphone as well as a headset (using the stereo jack type connector), and individual controls so you can turn up the gain (volume) for your mic as well as your headset separately - a nice feature for when you want your mic gain to be low but to still be able to hear yourself clearly. That it also comes with a very long cord makes this very handy - it allows me to set myself up far enough from my computer or laptop so as not to pick up the sound of the hard drives and fans. The box says it only works with Mac iOS up to version 5x - but it works perfectly with iOS 7.5x. This is a must-have item if you need to travel with your equipment. Very easy to use, very convenient, and absolutely works flawlessly.

This device is pretty well constructed, and very portable. It's also inexpensive. Some issues to be aware of, some are obvious, some aren't.The pre-amp is good, but not great. If you have to turn up the gain much, you will get some noise. The phantom power can not be turned off, so don't plan on using this with your dynamic or ribbon mics. There is no output, other than headphones. So, you'll hear the live microphone when playing back what you just recorded. This is fine a lot of the time, but it can be annoying when doing a sound check.I'm rating as 4 stars because, for what it does, it's fine. And, it's cheap. But I'd seriously consider spending more and getting the PreSonus 22VSL.

Connections are loose which was disappointing. Not sure if mine was damaged or if they are all that way. But it saves me taking a lot of extra gear on the road.

I have had this only a short time, so I can't comment on durability. I can comment on how it works. This unit is just as described. It is easy to use. My computer had no problems recognizing it. No problem with background noise from the unit. One review mentioned something about flimsy control knobs. This just isn't so. The controls are solid and work smoothly. I will use this for connecting my Sennheiser MD 421 mic to my laptop for on-the-go voice recording while I'm away from a recording studio. It's a great, portable unit. I especially like the way I can easily attach my headphones and get direct, no-delay audio while recording.
