Fine memoir of Yogi. Thoughtfully written with grace and style by his son Dale.

It is always a thrill to learn the history of famous athletes. And Yogi was one of THE best out there. His family revealed his true personality in this book and brought to light what a positive and supportive individual he was. Very enjoyable for me to learn these things about Yogi!

I thought the book would be about Yogi, which means Yogi would have had to share with his son, Dale, "inside" information about life as a famous Yankee ballplayer. While there was some of that and some information about Yogi the father and husband, from 1/3 to 1/2 of the book centered on the career and travails of author Dale Berra. We're even given info about Dale's daughter which I thought was inappropriate. In summary, I learned a little about Yogi but not nearly what I thought I would. For example, how many true "Yogi-isms" are there, and which ones did Yogi actually say?

This is a good read, revealing the at home side of Yogi Berra, and it also relates how easily a person, his son, a professional ballplayer, can be addicted to drugs. Yogi was not only a star on the field but also a genuinely good family man and a humble, generous member of the community.

It was a personal story about a great baseball player and a really good man and father. I learned quite a few things about a Yankee I always admired and loved. The book was a bit heavy in presenting information about Yogi's youngest son, Dale, the author of the book.

Dale Berra did an outstanding job telling about his drug use and how his family stood beside him during his troubles. I am a loyal Dodger fan and hated the Yankees. I hated Yogi because he always seemed hurt the Dodgers during the Series. As a man, I thought Yogi Berra a great ball player. Joe D may have been the Yankee Clipper, but Yogi was loved by all the baseball world. A must read for all baseball lovers.

I am a baseball fan and so I found the book a great read. Yogi was truly a great player and truly an interesting character. It was inspiring to see how his son cleaned up his life. You could see the importance of family.

I enjoyed this book as both a longtime Yankees fan and a parent. I remember wondering years ago when the news broke about Dale Berra's drug use "how could that happen". But I've learned it happens all the time and fortunately for Dale he had the love and support of his family to get him through it. I've always admired Yogi Berra as a player but I learned a lot about him as a person through this book. The world needs more people like Yogi!
