This is a nice test kit. It comes in a small sealable pouch. It’s simple to use by dipping into the water you want to test for 2 seconds and the. Waiting 30 seconds to read the results by matching the colors in each square to the grid in the package. Works well and makes it easier than all those droppers and test tubes. Good value!

Be careful how you read the advertising. It says "175 tests" repeatedly. What that means is 7 tests per strip times 25 strips. You can't single out any tests, it's all seven or nothing - 25 strips to me means 25 tests. It's still a decent deal, currently priced at $8. Testing weekly that's six months of testing. And testing weekly is what feels right with these. They're good tests but not extremely accurate as some of the dyes fade while you watch. That faded timing is probably heat sensitive as well. It says to measure the colors exactky after thirty seconds, so I took a picture, with flash, on a white dinner plate using a thirty second timer. Since my water looks normal, and mostly agrees with a different test kit, I'd feel safe using these weekly to track trends. If some of your values aren't safe and you want to track values with large water changes or with chemicals I'd get a test kit more specialized for that purpose.Super easy, dip for two and count to thirty. When I was much younger i needed a bunch of different water kits for each value I wanted to measure! Technology, even making water strips better.

For any fishkeeper, having a way to test your water parameters is absolutely a must-have. Like other test strips, it's a quick 2 seconds and wait to read the results within 30 seconds.I didn't have any problems with colors bleeding, but did have chlorine continuously turn a yellow instead of a white but this is a somewhat common problem with these strips.

I want to like these strips but I can't recommend them. I get inconsistent results when testing samples from the same water source, and some of the test pads yield mottled colors (see pictures) that cannot be reliably compared to their provided scale. Some of the pads fell off when they got wet and the color actually runs out of some of the pads before they can be placed into a horizontal position to be read. I would be prepared for similar inconsistencies if you try this item.

I question how accurate these test strips are because I followed the instructions, and I dipped it in my aquarium water for two seconds and then laid it down flat and waited 30 seconds to read the results. The problem I have is that half the squares get one color in the middle and one color on the outer rim. Sometimes the square produces a swirly tie die of colors. So which color am I supposed to take seriously? Another issue is that these test kits are reading that I have 0 nitrate. That can't possibly be right because I have a planted tank. And in my 30 years of planted tank keeping, I have never had 0 nitrates. Maybe I got a bad package?

This kit is beginner friendly. The instructions are clear and concise. Take one strip, dip it for 2 seconds, take it out and lay it on the package. Wait 30 seconds, then compare and record your results. Do this before 30 more seconds elapse. Each strip provides 7 tests in one go. Getting everything down quickly was my hardest challenge. The colors were a bit hard to pick between on the pH and Carbonate values for me. I erred on the "high" side, personally.Tip: Take a picture at just over 30 seconds!Once that 1 minute mark gets close, figuring anything out gets worse, as the "colors" for most of the tests fade or bleed out. Many of the complaints I see on here I suspect (but am not assuming) that people are not reading the instructions carefully, and walking away and "giving it time" before coming back to see the results. I actually took a picture of my strip at the 30 second mark JUST so I could go back and compare the colors to the bars without having a time crunch. The package also provides a "scale" for the "safe" values in a typical freshwater tank. That helped, because the values I was expecting to see where on the 1-14 type scale I had read about as a beginner setting up my first tank. I'm going to assume that these values could be "translated" to that scale but I wouldn't know for sure.I tested both the water from my tank and the water from my tap (which I treat before putting in the tank). Seeing that the scale of values on this kit matched or were close to the indicated "safe" zone for what I needed was enough for me for now. My shrimp are happy and although they haven't started producing any babies yet...that may be a me problem. I only bought 4 shrimp because I have a 5 gallon tank. They are probably a bit stressed, still, too. It's only been a couple of weeks since I put them in there, and they had to put up with me removing their deceased companion and the new plants I've been adding as I get them. One died the first weekend, but I suspect it was of "old age". It was the biggest one and the other three are doing fantastic and seem happy and healthy. The price isn't bad at all for 25 strips and the peace of mind when confirming your tank is not full of ammonia poison that's torturing your aquatic pets with each gill burning "breath".

I've had acouple of the strips in this test kit turn multiple shadesof the color in the square. Not the whole strip but maybe 2 or 3 squares. The price might be a tad high for these too. I've had better for less.

This is a great value, and the 25-pack will last you a good bit. They seem just as accurate as other brands I have used. These are essential for making sure your environment for your fish is safe and clean. Recommended.
