Why would BMW use a plastic valve cover? This was an inexpensive upgrade that will save you time and energy, you don't have to worry about warping, flaking or cracking plastic. Mine came slightly damaged in shipping but it was 99.8% good just a small piece on the breather was broke off it's barley noticable almost looked like it was part of the design. The finish on it looks amazing I wish it wasn't hidden by the plastic shroud. When I removed the old one it was at 110,000 miles and the plastic one seemed ok still but I could tell it was getting a bit stiff and I wasn't going to risk it. Oh they also don't tell you but the seals come pre installed so it's really just bolt on.

Gaskets and valve cover seem well made. No leaks so far and it’s been 2 weeks
