I have three other mop & vac robots from different manufacturers in my home and offices, so I was interested to see how this unit compared. Setup was easy: unpack and strip off warning labels, fill the water tank, download the iPhone app, and let the robot charge. Note this is a heavy unit: much heavier than any of the other mop/vacs I have. Maybe that's an indication of a better build quality, and maybe not.The robot did a fast mapping of my house main floor, taking about five minutes to complete. That's better than some of the other mop/vacs I have used which take a much longer time to map the space. I then told it to clean everywhere, on default settings. This took about four hours for the 1500sq ft area. The robot seemed to go over some areas once or twice, and others four or five times, depending on how dirty it thought the floor was. Unlike my other mop/vac robots, this one didn't get tangled in carpet or wires and seemed to extricate itself from being stuck in tight spaces quite effectively. The robot ran back to the base station four times, and I did have to empty the dirty water tank and refill the fresh water tank almost every time, or the robot just paused. Keep in mind that the number of times it needed emptying/filling was dependent on the amount of dirt the robot detected; in routine use, a single tank fill was enough for the space to be cleaned every day. The robot does verbalize messages to indicate issues, but you have to be near the robot to hear the messages; these are also showing up in one way or another on the app.The app lets you lay out the area and rooms quite well, and is fairly intuitive to use. I often do room-by-room cleaning as I move from room to room (and keep the dogs away from the room being cleaned), and that's easy to set up with the unit cleaning specific rooms or areas or multiple rooms and areas at a time. When cleaning the robot mop pads, the base station makes a little noise but it's not objectionable, and there is a silent mode that takes longer to tidy up the robot, but is much more quiet. The dirt sensor lets the robot change how many times it cleans a specific area, which is a nice feature and this makes the robot stand out from the other mop/vacs I have. On that feature alone it's a solid recommendation for this unit.I've been using the robot for a few weeks now, comparing it to the other robot mop/vacs I own, and I must admit to liking this one a lot. I still have to learn more, but it's easy to use and effective in its cleaning. There are features triggered in the app I have yet to investigate, but they seem to give you more control than the other mop/vacs I use. I will have to source replacement mop pads and dust filters, but that's true of any mop/vac.I am impressed! This might be my favorite mop/vac.

Absolutely love the NARWAL Freo Pro! It vacuums and mops like a pro (pun intended) and saves me so much time. My floors have never been cleaner. It’s smart, quiet, and easy to use once you get it set up. The suction power is seriously impressive — it picks up dirt, dust, and pet hair like nothing I've seen before. The mapping is insanely accurate too. It knows exactly where everything is and never misses a spot or gets lost. Plus, the overall functionality is just top-tier. It switches between vacuuming and mopping perfectly. Definitely one of the best purchases I’ve made this year. Highly recommend!

On the website it says that the Freo has "millimeter level obstacle avoidance". Yet when I came home yesterday my phone chargers had been ripped out of my lamp and tangled in the Freo. And then this evening it sucked up the charger in the living room. So make sure you don't have chords on the floor or close to the floor.Other than that it is a really good cleaning machine!! We have a dog and a cat that both shed alot and this thing really helps keep our house tidy and the noise level is a lot quieter compared to the Roomba e6 we had before this

Returned after 2weeks of trying. It does not function fabulously as advertised. It loses its mop pads EVERY time it’s run! It is supposed to lift over carpet… it does not!! It also throws off its sweeper rotating arms even though audibly SNAPPED onto posts. It will not run if missing one! In two weeks of trying it have NEVER completed a cycle! I’ve had to “rescue “ this robot vacuum more than ANY I have ever had!!It was quite difficult set up! Less instruction in English than other languages! I had to hunt for phone number to call for assistance! Even the help person struggled! App is awful! NOT INTUITIVE AT ALL. At least not in English. it is very difficult to find where and then set up a routine schedule! Man compared to shark app this is a nightmare ! Once I finally set up a whole house vacuum only routine and saved …. when I select it it still mops! Loses a mop pad…. Then doesn’t run… have to rescue… or it docks itself and you have to hunt for the wet mop pad!! For all this frustration and outrageous price.. I’m returning and buying two shark matrix to have vacuum my whole house!! Good luck if you try the Narwal.

This is my very first Amazon review, and why? Just because I had to! I am so very impressed with this robot vac. After doing a ton of research, I discovered this brand and could not find one bad thing about it - other than price. The product line was mostly out of my budget. So I purchased a different product. Two days later, Narwal introduced the Freo Pro, and it was in my price range! So I bought one to give it a try. Let me just say that after 30 minutes of interacting with this vac, I starting boxing up my original purchase. It is extremely easy to use and is the quietest robot vac I’ve had. The technology in this brand is beyond compare. The first product I purchased took 45-50 minutes to map my first floor, the Narwal took 9. The brands you think of in this product category are vacuums first, robots second. The Narwal brand is a robot first, vacuum second - but does an AMAZING job on my floors. It picks up things the other brand was missing. Run, seriously run, and grab one of these, you will NOT regret it!

Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I wanted a robot mop/vacuum combo for a while, and I use it to clean about 1000sqft of area, a mix of tile, carpet, and vinyl flooring. The vacuum and mop on the tile and vinyl flooring is great! Narwhal recommends their cleaning tabs though, which I can't find anywhere, and it didn't come with any. Honestly though, I just add some white vinegar to the water and it works super well for us. I was concerned that it might not be that great in the kitchen because vinegar doesn't do much for grease, but I was pleasantly surprised. The first time we ran the mop function, it went over the floor like four times in different patterns each time, because it kept detecting dirty water. I thought it was bugged or something, but it was actually working as intended. Subsequent cleanings have come out so much better. As far as carpet goes, it is sadly very meh. We had a Wyze before this and it did relatively well on carpet, but this thing just doesn't seem to get up against the couch very well. We have cats and kids and it leaves a lot of hair and crumbs behind. The no-tangle brush does work as advertised though so that's nice, as I have long hair and it has yet to get any tangles on it.The app took a bit to figure out, but it works well now that I've learned how to use it. I really like the "quick" functions you can set. I set a few up for the dining room and kitchen because it's the first thing I do in the morning. I can never depend on the scheduling function, not that it doesn't work, but between pets and kids, I'd never really trust it not to smear something or have toys all in the way.Overall, I'm pretty pleased with it as far as the hard flooring goes. The carpet ability leaves a lot to be desired. BUT if all you have is hard flooring or some thin rugs, this thing will work great!

This was packed so well. I knew as I was opening it this was going to be worth every penny. The app is really easy to learn and use. Love being able to control the way it cleans and where. Watching it work is pretty amazing. It's really smart.

I am still learning about this robot vacuum, but let me just say that it blows my previous robot vacs out of the water. It is extremely quiet even at the highest setting, which is nice especially if you set it to run overnight. This is the first vacuum I got that doesn't require frequent emptying, Keep in mind, this does not vacuum itself out, but rather it compresses the contents of your bin so that you only have to empty it every so often. I have a golden retriever so I need to do that weekly as I run the vacuum daily, But if you are pe.tless and only run it a couple of times a week you can go 7 weeks without emptying. The brush does not seem to tangle at all which is really nice. My other vacuums struggled with tangles. The mapping seems good. Some areas get covered more than others, but that may be a dirt sensing thing that tells the robot to pay more attention to dirtier areas. It works extremely well on hard floors. None of my rugs are very deep pile and it does an adequate job there. Will it replace using my upright vacuum on the carpets? No. I still feel that those are better with rugs than a robot, but this does remove surface dirt and hair. I like that it will go under the furniture and beds where, if I am being honest, I am not moving my sofa out every time I vacuum, so at least for that it does a better job at keeping my house tidier over all. It is something that requires some space to store it due to the bin holders for the clean and dirty water. Fortunately it is sleek and modern looking, but it still takes up some visual as well as phyisical space. My other robot did not have the bin storage so it tucked itself away neatly under the buffet. That also required me emptying the bin at least four times during a single vacuuming session. (thanks doggo) So everything is a trade off. At least with the self compressing bin, I can run it at night and know it won't stop running because it needs emptying, provided I clean it weekly (in my case). It doesn't seem to bother my dog much although he will move out of the way if it gets too close to him, which is good. He doesn't bark at it or fear it.

This was a bit of a tough review as my initial use of the Narwal Freo Pro was really positive. It setup super easily, the app worked very well, and the Freo Pro went around the house cleaning as expected. However, as I tested it more I noticed some deficiencies in the way it works, and that it didn't clean as well as I thought from my initial impressions. I will try to cover some of the design and functional pros and cons in this review. The Narwal comes almost fully assembled, which I greatly appreciated. After unboxing you need to remove some packing foam from the front sensor, remove the temporary-use dust bin packed in the clean water tank, and install the "Dynamic Zero Tangling Side Brushes". Narwal made installation of these brushes super easy by color coding them and making it so they can only be inserted one way. After this all that's needed is to plug the base station to a power outlet, slide the vacuum into the base station garage and install the Narwal Freo app.I really like the clean aesthetics of the Narwal. It is sleek, glossy white and just super modern looking. I would say almost space-age. All the components feel very well made, including even the water tanks. You get two such tanks, a blue one for clean water and a translucent white one for the dirty water. The tanks have a large spring loaded lid at the top, making them easy to fill and dump. There is also a convenient handle built into the lid so you can lift it in or out of the base station. Unfortunately you can't really use the handle while filling with clean water so you have to cradle the tank. One thing to note here is the instructions mention adding a cleaning solution tablet to the water tank. At first I was surprised a sample wasn't included but after reading some more I found that the tablet is optional, and mopping can be done by just water. I could only find the tablet sold on Narwal's own website. It is priced at $16.99 for 24 tablets, but was out of stock at time of this review. Also, painfully, shipping was extra, and quite costly. Back to the vacuum. This is also incredibly well made. At the font is a bumper to detect objects. There is also a camera in the bumper. At the top there is a lidar. Underneath, the Freo Pro has rubber-like wheels with treads. The brush roll is also high quality, and can be detached for cleaning. At the front are the two Zero Tangle Side brushes to help prevent longer hair from tangling Then, at the bottom rear there are two mop pads that attach via Velcro, but are a little thin. The top cover is magnetically attached, and can be lifted to access the disposable filter/dust bag. Instead of the dust bag this is where you can put in the included re-usable dust bin. Narwal says the re-usable dust bin should only be used temporarily (I couldn't find the reason why). Narwal claims the dust bags can last up to 7 weeks, but your mileage will vary depending on how much dirt it picks up. For your reference, Narwal sells a pack of 3 dust bags for $26.99 (at time of review) + $18 shipping to my address. You can find generic ones on Amazon though, where I saw a 6 pack for about $35. Just be aware this will be an ongoing cost to using the Narwal. It's too bad the Freo Pro doesn't come with the feature to empty into a larger bag in the base station. The Narwal Freo app is very nice! I downloaded the Android version. You will need a valid email to setup an account. The first step required is to map out the cleaning area. The app will go through a series of questions, like do you have stairs, do you have a pet, before it starts the automatic mapping. Interestingly, I wanted to re-map, which the app allowed, but it didn't ask me the same questions again. The second mapping the vacuum behaved differently. It didn't find out stairs to the basement for example. I do admit the mapping is pretty neat. The vacuum just auto-magically, using all its sensors, find its way all around your place. One thing odd though, is sometimes the vacuum will be very precise and contour around objects. Other times it just goes into a room (like out powder room) and then turn and leave. After it maps it will draw all the rooms it found in the app. You can view this as a floorplan, 3D model, etc. You can assign room names easily as well. You can even put in objects like sofas, tables, refrigerators, stoves, etc! This all gets saved to the map. Within the same map you can select any room or rooms to clean just by tapping the room on the map. If no rooms are selected the Freo Pro will just clean every room. Narwal even allows multiple maps to be saved in case you wanted to use the vacuum in multiple locations. Finally, the type of cleaning can also be set, and be set to a schedule! Narwal supports Vac and Mop, Vac then Mop, Vac Only and Mop only modes. Overall, the Narwal Freo app is a very nice design that is also very easy to use.Once cleaning is started the base station goes through the startup process. It takes almost 2 minutes for it to do its thing before the vacuum undocks to start cleaning. This process can get a bit loud and will be noticeable if close by the base station. Once going though, you will hear it but overall the vacc/mop is relatively quiet. The vac/mop will typically try and run the perimeter of a room first, and then do a back-and-forth to cover inside the room. I was shocked that the vac made its way under my breakfast table, through the chair legs and all, and made its way back out! It was truly impressing it attempted, and succeeded, in getting under there. When the Freo Pro goes over carpet it automatically stops the mops from spinning and lifts them up from touching the carpet. Oddly, on one occasion it required manual intervention when it drove into our dining room and rolled partially on a thin area rug. I had to pull it back off and resume the cleaning cycle. I don't know what the issue was because, on another occasion it drove up onto our anti-stress mat in the kitchen, with some difficulty, but it didn't require any manual intervention. Once the cycle is done the Freo Pro returns to the base station and begins a cleaning cycle. It dumps the dirty water into the base station reservoir, cleans and then dries the mop pads. I have to honestly say this process is also quite noisy. The drying of the pads can also take many hours, where you will hear a hum from the base station.Cleaning quality was mixed on the Narwal Freo Pro. For a maintenance clean it did a great job. It mopped the floors and vacuumed up whatever accumulated on the floor. However, I did a more severe dirt and mop test using coffee grounds, rice, rice crackers and liquid coffee. I placed the "dirt" against the wall as well to see how the Narwal would handle that. I found the result was surprising. The mopping did a fine job and cleaned up the spilt coffee. I wiped the floors with a white paper tower after the Freo completed, and I was pleasantly surprised I didn't see any residual coffee on the towel. It's interesting to see how the Freo Pro works to try to get by the baseboard trim. The pads themselves do not extend to the widest width of the Freo Pro. As a result, the Freo Pro has to rotate itself every time it moves a little to put the mop pad close up to the wall. It's a bit slow but it does get there. Unfortunately, vacuuming was a mixed bag. The problem is partially with the two Dynamic Zero-Tangle Side Brushes. These brushes hit the coffee and rice, which scattered it around the floor. Even for the area that the vacuum/mop went over, a few coffee grounds remained. It also could not pickup the grounds close to the baseboard. Maybe the Freo Pro was not designed for small particles like ground coffee. In the end, the mopping was quite good I thought, but the vacuuming could have been better for finer particles. On the maintenance side, the app tracks when something is needed. For example, it shows the number of uses before the brush roll or the mop pads need to be replaced. It will also tell you when the water tank is empty, when the dirty water tank is full, and/or when the dust bag needs replacing. You get notifications in the app but the Narwal base station also talks to tell you notifications. To replace, the dust bag/filter combo just slides out as one unit and can be thrown out. A new one can then be slid back in. In terms of tank usage, It takes about 1 tank of water to do our rooms (about 1000 s.f.). When cleaning multiple rooms the Freo Pro map return to the base station to refill its reservoir a few times. There's really nothing that needs to be done for most cleaning cycles, except possibly to fill and/or dump the tanks! After each cycle the base station cleans and then dries the Freo Pro and its mop pads. It's pretty hassle free!Overall, I really like the design of the Narwal Freo Pro. It looks great! I also thought the app was very easy to use. The mapping function, though a little inconsistent, did for the most part work to map out all our rooms. The mopping functionality worked very well and did a great job cleaning the floors. It is a bit slow trying to get right up against the baseboards though. The vacuum was a mixed bag . For a "maintenance" clean I think the vacuum works perfectly fine. It will pickup everything that I could see, and I didn't experience any tangles with long hair. However, for a more challenging scenario, the front tangle free brushes kicked the "dirt" (coffee) around. if it kicked the coffee to where the Freo Pro had already cleaned that dirt will never be picked up. The vacuum also could not reach the edge against the baseboards, which was a bit of a disappointment. The Freo Pro also left a few coffee grounds behind that should have been picked up by its vacuum. I also didn't like that the included re-usable dust bin can only be used temporarily. You have to buy the dust bags, which are very expensive from Narwal direct. Also, they may not last very long depending on how much dirt accumulates between cleanings. I also didn't like the cleaning tablet design of the Freo Pro. To use a cleaner Narwal recommends the tablets, but they are out of stock at time of review. They are also very expensive to purchase from Narwal Direct after factoring in the shipping cost. If you don't mind some of these cons, the Freo Pro does work well for maintenance cleanings. However, at some point I feel I still need to do a deep clean to clean along the baseboards and to some areas the Freo just can't reach. Narwal also makes higher models that have base station dust bags and mop pads that extend out to clean against the baseboard. Narwal even makes a model that can mop the baseboards! If you do mind these cons I would recommend looking into one of Narwals other models that have those features! I think the Narwal Freo Pro meets 80% of my expectations. It's great in some areas, good in others, but still has areas that can be improved. At the end of the day, The Narwal Freo Pro is very good but not perfect, hence a 4-star review.
